Take it how you want but St Louis is a blue collar city, certainly not on the level of New York or Chicago in perception by any stretch of the imagination.

I do not think it is because of antisemitism at all so we agree there, but there are multiple examples of two posters who frequently post here saying they hate BP.

BPVols, emain, Zjc, Basketballvofns and Big Papa are not in that group. They complain and rip people who like Bruce alot, but they do not hate him.

Orange I actually used to dislike your posts on TOS because you cannot seem to avoid being political.

I despise Obama because I am not a socialist. I also despise his foreign policy which as far as I can tell is cry and try to hug the world while they laugh at you and weaken your country. His skin color has nothing to do with it.

I thought at first that anti semitism may have something to do with peoples hatred of CBP but I have gotten to the bottom of it.

Hatvol is the bandleader of the negavols. He has admitted since I got here to being an Illinois fan. That is why he hates Pearls guts. Illinois fans think Pearl is a snitch, a traitor to his profession, a snake etc. That is also a fairly widely held opinion in terms of his actions under Davis, which is why he was in the wilderness (not an intentional Moses reference but lets roll with it) for so long before getting the UT job.

Once you have decided you dislike someone, you will be angry about their divorce (used as a criticism by Hat) and many other things. If Pearl had not dropped a dime on Deon, people may dislike his style of play, but the few on here who hate him I do not think would hate him.

To them hating Pearl is like the way I feel about Bin Laden. I do not hate Saudis, or Muslims, but Bin Laden is a guy I would like to see blown full of holes with a bomb filled with bacon bits.

Pearl has done more with this program than any coach in the nation could... that includes coach K, Boeheim, pitino, anyone... With his charisma and work ethic he has been able to get fans in the door and boosters donating their hard earned money to the new facilities.

Literally... Pearl is easily a top 3 recruiter and will be for a long time.

He won a NC in D 2 and will win one in D 1.

DONT PUSH HIM OUT VOL FANS... THE SECOND YOU DO, THE PROGRAM WILL BE BACK TO 14-20 BUZZ PETERSON DAYS. give him time, it will work out.

No I think he was being a bit hyperbolic, but I could be wrong and he could be serious and if he was I think he is a bit overly complimentary of where Bruce is.

I will say that Bruce has always had to deal with the apt criticism that he has not gotten guys to the NBA. No one could fault him with Lofton, but although Tyler Smith is a tweener and Wayne has asthma he should be able to get both in the NBA.

By the time Hopson and Harris are both playing decently in the NBA (2012?) I would think that he may be up to a top 5 level recruiter. Adidas hurts no matter what people say, but CBP will be able to start getting lots of stud players after that.

I also think you cannot compare Bruce to Coach K or Boeheim. If Bruce stays here for 20 years and wins a NC or 4 we can start making comparisons.

Here is how to me it boils down. Hat and maybe Lofton4Three hate Pearl because of Deon. That is a very very small group, insignificant in terms of Vols fans.

A much larger group are not sure that our helter skelter play will ever allow us to beat disciplined teams who can defend well. Unless Pearl gets to a Final Four they will think he did a great job raising our profile but should be replaced by a coach who is better at X's and O's.

I think when he has a great PG, we will see that his press and his dribble offense (which looks no worse to me than Cal's) will succeed.
