Just think about it - in one game Chaney matched Dooley's SEC wins in two entire seasons! And he didn't need overtime to do it (as Dooley did against Vanderbilt in 2011).

and he has no head coaching experience. maybe dooley just sucked really bad:eek:lol:

I've not see to many interim coaches as happy as JC during the game. He was smiling from ear to ear just about every time the camera was on him. He genuinely wanted to be out there and you could tell he was excited from the get go. Also seemed like the players responded to it and the fact they're wasn't any pressure, just play to have fun. I got a kick out of watching all of them.

He got my attention and respect. I saw the same in Florida's coach. He won the hearts of his players. Just been missing at Tennessee for years. This next hire is going to be the biggest hire of my time following. Got to get it right.

Something to keep in mind:

CJC was brought here by Kiffin and Kiffin tried hard to get him to bolt with the rest of them when he left for USC. CJC has been quoted many times saying he felt obligated to the team and was seriously against how Kiffin and Crew handled the recruits they had at that time (telling the EE's not to enroll in school and to follow them to USCw--Bray included).

CJC is a man of character and it shows the more I watch him. He has stuck by these players and HIS players respect him and stick by him. It's refreshing to see.

It really is night and day between fCDD. Dools never got that kind of reaction and respect from the players. Never, not even during a win, did I ever see players thoroughly enjoying being around CDD during a game. No congratulatories after a win. Not even so much as standing near him during down times and communicating.

It is obvious that the players love CJC and this time it actually showed through on the field.

I do wish CJC is retained. Small possibility, but if anything, he has brought a huge element back to what Tennessee football used to be about--a true family that goest to bat for eachother and wins together.

Gatorade bath for beating a team with no league wins is pathetic. Especially if the winning team also had no league wins. For you to like it is your prerogative.

As a fellow Vol fan I understand the frustration but do you honestly think the players would go into the locker room with their heads down? After all the disappointment this team had been through they deserve to celebrate the win. Look on the bright side. At least UK didn't beat us two years in a row :)

Heads down? No. Celebrating a meaningless win over a hapless bottom feeder? No also. But I can understand Bray's excitement. Those are the only games he has won here.

Blows DD's presser's out of the water, even after his wins. The praise for the players was phenomenal and deserved. Glad Chaney got his shot and got to go out on top.

The reason CJC's pressers are more enjoyable the CDD's is because he actually knows what he is doing. CDD might as well have been training Sumo wrestlers, the man had no business being a HC in the SEC. Judging from his record he had no business being the HC of La Tech either.

Thanks Coach Chaney for Being a Vol until the end. Not one time did you blame anyone but your self for offensive failures. Good Luck Jim in what ever comes your way!

Interesting comment from Chaney, he said he could tell in warm ups Bray was serious and ready to play. He went on to say that was not true last week.

Wins and enjoyment have been seriously lacking the past four years for Vol Nation.

I choose not to begrudge those seniors, Chaney, Bray, or anyone on here for enjoying yesterday.

Feel free to continue being a d-ck however.

It's human nature to be ecstatic after succeeding in an endeavor. Now did this team succeed as far as the season is concerned? Absolutely not but they did succeed in this game and deserve to celebrate regardless how bad the opponent was. Besides I really think the Gatorade bath was more of a display for their appreciation for Chaney than celebrating the win.

You and "Pimpvol" are pathetic. "Kiss the chaney ring?" GTFO with that BS. It's not about celebrating the win over KY. It's about honoring a guy who stuck by the team, took over for a failed coach, and guided them to a final win.

Whatever... I'm wasting my breath on idiots like you.

Reality continuing to sink in about Dools and Chaney?

Play calling can be adjusted by a head coach's game plan and instructions. When Chaney fell short he lacked a real head coach that understood the game to make corrections or override the call. As far as being an OC in all other aspects, Chaney is top tier. The players showed you that yesterday if you missed it previously.

The difference in being bowl bound and not is on Hart/Cheek/big boosters. The die was cast well before USCe. No excuse for not canning Dools after the USCe loss. There would have been 2 or 3 more wins because the negativity and incompetence surrounding Dools would have been gone. Players want to have fun. Imagine that - it's a game. Not an exercise of the German army.
