Wow just watched Chaney's presser...

He's made some questionable play calls, but over all this year I believe he's been fine.

Show me a coach who hasn't made questionable play calls. I'll promise you this, Coach Chaney's questionable calls are based on a deeper understanding of the game and better information than you, I or any of the arm chair coaches who post on this board have access to.

I am surprised how intelligent CJC actually is, not in a negative way. He is very well spoken and not a selfish person.

Agree...refreshing to hear him speak. We did not get to hear from him during the season, really impressed and have changed my opinion of him.

Be interesting to see if some of the better coaches will be retained (offense side of the ball).

If he hadn't proved to me time and time again that he panics and abandons the run game, I might want him to stay.

The difference in being bowl bound and not is on Hart/Cheek/big boosters. The die was cast well before USCe. No excuse for not canning Dools after the USCe loss. There would have been 2 or 3 more wins because the negativity and incompetence surrounding Dools would have been gone. Players want to have fun. Imagine that - it's a game. Not an exercise of the German army.

I think it was 11 games too late, but this point has a lot of merit.

It's been a damn frustrating year, but I hate when any season ends. Would love to be back in a bowl game and win. I've been hard on Chaney, and I hope he is not retained, but him closing out November as interim would have earned him high marks in Vol folklore. And, I don't think there is any doubt Chaney >> Dooley on all things football.

Maybe....with the next HC can influence and mentor Chaney in this regard. Help him to overcome those 3rd and Chaneys.

Wins and enjoyment have been seriously lacking the past four years for Vol Nation.

I choose not to begrudge those seniors, Chaney, Bray, or anyone on here for enjoying yesterday.

Feel free to continue being a d-ck however.

I respect your opinion. You are free to feel however you like.

You and "Pimpvol" are pathetic. "Kiss the chaney ring?" GTFO with that BS. It's not about celebrating the win over KY. It's about honoring a guy who stuck by the team, took over for a failed coach, and guided them to a final win.

Whatever... I'm wasting my breath on idiots like you.

Awe... don't be sad. Glad you enjoyed the big win.

It's human nature to be ecstatic after succeeding in an endeavor. Now did this team succeed as far as the season is concerned? Absolutely not but they did succeed in this game and deserve to celebrate regardless how bad the opponent was. Besides I really think the Gatorade bath was more of a display for their appreciation for Chaney than celebrating the win.

Come on man!!! You have to call me a name too. Get with it.

I am afraid that if Chaney is not retained, he will be beating us in the future. I like him very much...his personality , his connection with the players and the offense he puts together.

I don't think that he panics so much as it's just his offensive philosophy to put the ball in the air.

I agree that he probably would have been better served taking advantage of our improved running game this year, but Dooley had the responsibility to rein him in when the offense started getting pass happy. Just further evidence that Dooley not only couldn't manage a game, but he couldn't even manage his own coaches when it was required.

I enjoyed the presser and I think we could do a lot worse than Chaney as an OC. Someone said earlier in the thread that he is a top tier OC. I wouldn't go that far, but he isn't bad either. It's totally up to the new coach as to whether he is retained, but I think he has at least earned a look.

Oh and I like the fact that he mentioned Kippy's name in the presser. We would probably been in a much better place right now if Hammy had just let Kippy be the interim for a year instead of rushing into the disaster that was Dooley.

Every time they showed him on the sidelines I wanted to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association... Dude looks like Jerry Lewis. Good coach and I wish him well. As much as folks complained about him early in the season I think we all came to see he wasn't the problem.

Witch Doctor say great Offensive Cord. are a commodity. Witch Doctor say the new guy will have to at least give him fair consideration. The offense didnt lose the games this year. He loves Knoxville and Tennessee..thats a BIG plus.
BNL
*his numbers still look good to recruits and stability in the ever changing coaching cycle

Half of you guys were dog cussing Chaney this year. Most bipolar crowd I have ever read

Trueness. But what they are doing is finding different ways to be a douche toward Dooley. Which shouldn't even be that hard. Which makes them look even lamer. But let them have their fun. They have earned it. Poor things had to suffer through another losing season. :hi:

Livin' up to that username. I can't make it any simpler for you than I did earlier. Lack of comprehension precludes us from engaging intelligently on the topic. Best of luck to you with yo' hoes. (Is it "ho's?")

I vote no on Chaney. If it were up to him we would never run the football. I think his offense is one reason we haven't been able to get a difference maker at running back. It wouldn't take a genius calling plays to pile up stats with Bray at QB throwing the ball 50 times a game but that doesn't win games in the SEC. As good as the offense was at times it was just as bad at crunch time or when we needed one drive to win a game. New coach will not retain Chaney anyway though so it's a mute point. Big time coaches have the staff they want already in place especially someone as important as the OC.

It's possible. It's my only real beef with him.

If some HC could come in and put a leash on that boy, teach him whats up with the run game and the SEC, he would be OK.

But it's been a constant issue with him.
