Wright's comments...

I choose a church based on the church and my particular denomination. Pastors come and go within a given church. And yes, I do go to a church where I don't agree with many of my pastor's political views. I am pro-choice and I am certain my pastor is anti-abortion. Should I leave the church???? Of course not.

Obama chose a church that was presided over for 20 years by a racist. Think that says anything about the church? About Obama? If not, then you are just completely unopen to reason in regards to judging the man. He is your candidate and nothing he says or does is going to turn you away from him.

I am not unopen to reason. I think it is reasonable to choose not to give a shat about his pastor. I agree with Papa. This was masterminded by the Clinton camp. You won't hear a word from McCain in the general election campaign about it. Do I think he has exercised poor judgement in staying in this church? Yes, of course. Do I think Obama is a racist? No. Are you a racist because one of your best friends still calls African-americans niggers? No.

1) I don't care about his pastor either. I care that Obama is so stupid or careless to follow such a man. I don't care about Wright at all.
2) Masterminded by Clinton? Clinton made a man Obama considered an advisor, say racist and stupid things?
3) If McCain's fishing buddy for 20 years was a prominent figure in a white supremacy movement...this would not be an issue with the opposing side?
4) I never called Obama a racist, I called him an enabler.

wow apples to apples please. surely you see the difference between a leader of a congregation and a close adviser saying these things and a random racist friend (and frankly i think if you have BEST friends who say these things and you chose to still hang around him it does say something about you). by wright saying these things PUBLICALLY and obama not denouncing them or leaving a church until now is an implicit approval or at least isn't a disaproval. obviously he didn't think anything wright said was that bad. do we really want a man like that as president?

Why anyone with a brain would care what some pastor says is beyond me. Lots of right wing BS trying to bring down a guy because of his pastor. To start a thread on it shows unbelievable stupidity.

ANYONE who voted for W TWICE should focus a little more on important issues and less on someone's dipshiit pastor.

I wonder how many of you southern baptists could stand up to such scrutiny if YOUR pastor's words had been examined so closely. Nevermind, you couldn't.

I have and will always continue to.

What is your deal any ways?

Is it possible for you to have a dicussion without painting every one under a falsehood?

Are you that bitter and angry?

Generally every one on this board has fun and respects one another....... what is your deal?

:dunno:

I feel we shouldn't mix religion and politics. Many or most of you obviously do and most of you are conservative republicans which is reflective of your beliefs on Obama and his pastor. Your right and choice. Mine just happens to be different

Why does that matter?

Shouldn't you base every thing on what the church believes?

Why in the world would you follow someone who thinks exactly like you?

Every thing is about each person(s) personal view....

Are the false blanket statements necessary?

Honestly, every one knows why Obama chose this pastor and this church to attend.

Obama needed the political influence of Wright to gain access to the Chicago political machine.

That is why he joined the church.

It is really that simple.........

It's kinda odd, but I believe Hillary's camp has been the driving force behind much of this hoopla.

Do you really think it's odd? She and the people running her campaign are pros. They know she's too polarizing to win the nomination on her own merits, so they need to discredit her only serious contender.

Sen. Obama couldn't do more to distance himself from the man (that was his only real choice in recent days, though), and I think the voters who still have a say are realizing that this is a weak association. I think he'll prevail.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

Any further discussion about this, on here or anywhere else, ever?

Attending the church to get into a powerful political machine is a good excuse, but Obama went the extra mile to have Wright marry him and baptize his kids and be his spiritual adviser. I bet none of the "sermons" Wright had ever came up in private conversations over the past 20 years while he was advising Obama.

Really, why not play the charade with Wright.....?

You are great, get me in the political door, I will play along, have you baptize me and my family......

Really, politicians have done worse.....

OE...the point is Obama is the fresh non-political guy, remember, this is how he has generated the grassroots effort...he is different.

I agree Obama has a pure spirit and not a politician. He is an outsider and wants CHANGE!!!

Of course he is because he speaks as a pastor would to his congregation..........

The church in this case is the government and the congregation is .................. _______________ ?
