Wright's comments...

Huge numbers? According to what? I hear Obama supporters calling in with:

-Wright was set up
-Obama is being a politician(hence doing what he needs to do, inferring Wright said nothing wrong)
- Wright's timing was wrong. Again, not what he has said is wrong...just the wrong time for it.

I'm going by a reporter who actually went to the church, done by fox news. What your probably hearing is people who are not affiliated with the church, who know nothing, and will argue until they die.

I am hearing from people who claim to be members of the "black church" community. That still don't have a problem with what Wright said and view this all as some set up to bring Obama down. People that were still defending Wright after his Monday NPC debacle.

After watching that spectacle on Monday night, I wouldn't associate that guy with anyone but an a$$. I think the black community at large is now embarrassed and shocked by this guy. I think Obama was truely surprised by this and the media attention is making Wright turn into freak.

It's ridiculous to think that obama doesn't know the feelings of someone he considers his close advisor and friend of 20 years when it is obvious the man is flat out racist.

Imagine how he'll interpret comments from Ahmadenijad when they meet a few times.

"I could no sooner disown Ahmadenijad than I could my grandmother..." :) "Crazy Uncle Mahmoud"

I question this. I cannot speak for the black community at large...who can? But I am telling you...when I listen to radio shows such as The Tom Joiner Show(sp?) and The Michael Baisden Show, the callers(I am assuming most are black) are not embarrased or shocked. They are furious with this "set up" that Wright was trapped in...or it was the wrong timing or something else. I hear no callers that are blaming Wright. I did hear some commentary on The Tom Joiner Show that did ridicule Wright for his NPC mess. She dressed him down...but that commnetary was in the minority. I'll repeat...I have no idea how well the callers into these shows represent the black population at large. But what I hear on these shows is sad.

It just seems weird to me that Fox News seems to be jumping on Obama's side for this. I only listen to NPR and the BBC on air, no mention of any of this when I am in the car.

Some people believe that this is all planned out by both of them. I think the guy is a nutcase and Obama is finally seeing it.

in my experience churches such as the trinity church are filled will people convinced of all sort of wackjob things and absolutely convinced that the white man is the biggest problem in their life. and i'm not joking. as for the black community at large, i have no idea what they think.

In reality, there is little difference in what wackjob things some in the white community believe and the wackjob things some in the black community believe.

As to what the overall black community thinks, I am basing it on what I hear from miltary members and call in shows. Its my opinion, and thats all it is.

i just don't want a member of one of these wackjob groups (white or black) as my president.

That's a strong claim. What makes you say that?

Disagree....a stong claim would be to say Obama is a racist. I can't say that. He has been friends with a pastor for 20 years that is a racist. He is a member of a church that ministers based on skin color. Being a part of these things makes him an enabler. He lends his stamp of "ok" to the whole idea. I really don't get serving God based on skin color. Politics, race and so forth are never mentioned in my church. These types of churches are what give organized religion a bad name. It makes me understand why some people are so critical of it.

I think obama realizes that without the black vote he wont get elected, but if he embraces wright he wont get the white vote. therefore he is trying to bridge the gap which is always a bad idea.

Obama hasn't addressed it, but if he does agree then the whole he's just being political argument sinks him. It would make his denial of knowledge about Wright's lunacy a complete fabrication. He's better off just letting it lie.

I actually thought that Obama admitted that he did have knowledge of these statements eventually...at first he said no, then he corrected that.....I REALLY think I read that somewhere....

Um until recently, no... before he was referring to him as my pastor, was going to have him lead the prayer at his announcement, etc. That doesn't sounds like an ex pastor to me.

Maybe I don't know what the word pastor means..but I thought it was the pastor of his church...and Wright is no longer that. That is what I meant..

You did read or hear that. He said he only heard some of the remarks, which he has stuck to. Factcheck.org has proven he wasnt in attendance for some of the other remarks. So he is probably telling the truth.

What do you mean by this?

Meaning the black value system. Their is a sytem of values associated with skin color. I don't know what this has to do with religion, at all.

I'll note, the part in bold is not my thought process. It is what I infer from Wright.

Actually it goes against what I understand of the teachings of Jesus. It also goes against the principals of a man I am sure he respects, Martin Luther King. Much of what Wright says flies in the face of the teachings he basis his faith on. That is why I believe he and people like Jessie Jackson are little better than pimps.

You should read what the Trinity UCoC has to say about blacks eschewing "middleclassedness".

I would only assume they want their followers to remain lower class an uneducated. How else would anyone buy into the teachings of Wright and his kind?
