We finish in top 5-6 again (different qb) it will be hard to keep coach. Too many rich college programs out there wanting what we have.
Dude, wtf? Why would Heupel leave a blue blood program with all the money in the world when he has the program rolling and is the hero? No negativity.

It would be crazy to think he wouldnt listen to Oklahoma if Venebles got fired. I dont think he would ultimately leave though. He is a legend there already and i dont think he’d want to mess that up. Same reason Manning will never coach at UT. Also UT could match any offer money-wise.
There is a lot of bad blood between him and Oklahoma because they scapegoated and fired him.

As long as we give him plenty of money and he's able to recruit and win like he is, why would he ever leave? He's coaching one of the top teams in the top conference in America.

Heupel is 2 years into his career and his raise made him the 11th highest paid coach in CFB not counting endorsements. He has made great progress on a legacy rebuilding effort. If he completes this then he's a coaching legend with all of the money and advantages that go with it. He's given no indication that he doesn't love everything about UT, Knoxville, and the program. He sees UT as a destination job much like Saban viewed Bama and Smart views UGA.

Heupel makes $9 million per year. That's $2 million more than Harbaugh and Franklin. It is the same as Jimbo and Kiffin but he's a much better value. Day makes $9.5 as does Kelly. Saban is at the top with $11.7 million.

Heupel is not underpaid now. UT will have NO problem making him the highest paid CFB coach if necessary.

Sure, there are programs that could outbid us, but I think CJH has the integrity to look at this more than just about money. He seems like the type that wants to see this through and reach the ultimate goal of a national championship. Or at least, turn UT into a perennial NC contender.

Could he go to somewhere like A&M? Yeah, I guess. But his contract extension through 2029 put him in the top 10 of highest paid coaches. And most of the top guys that are making $1-2 million more than him have multiple NC's under their belt.

Josh Heupel isn’t going anywhere. He loves Tennessee and with the success he is having here, why would he leave? We are taking back our place as one of the top tier jobs to have in college football. We should be more worried about keeping our coordinators in place as people will be trying to take them from us.
Tim Banks seems to be on the verge of building a good defense starting from next to nothing. UT may be able to retain him for one more season beyond this but he has a good pedigree. I expect him to get some head coaching offers in the near future.

You have the worst takes on this site, and that’s saying something. Hence you have 10,000 more post than likes. If I was you, I’d not post again. Please.

Besides the fact that he is making serious cash right now, I havent heard one of the biggest differences IMO as to why he will stay here - Danny White.

Also, while every coach likes to think that they can be legendary everywhere, in real life, it is hard to catch lightning in a bottle and almost impossible to do it 2x. Rare, and I mean rare few coaches have ever done that - its hard enough to become a legend at a single school. I think CJH can see this and having Danny White here who brought him into the big leagues means something, not just gratitude but they work well together. I mean if you had a chance to become the Dabo or Saban of a blue blood football school with a killer NIL program, why would you leave for 20% more money and a very unknown future?

We saw how much his status at Oklahoma meant to them when they let him go the first time. He is currently becoming a legend here. Especially if he posts another 2 loss or less season this year. The man isn’t going anywhere IMO. The only possible reason for that would be money. And as you said, I think Tennessee will match whatever offer if he continues his success.

If he keeps winning at the level he is now, he's gonna get raises that will keep him on the hill. I don't even consider that he wants to leave what he is building. Recruiting will get even better than it is now, top talent will want to be a part of the Big Orange domination that is about to be unleashed.

Just enjoy watching the team. It's finally fun again! Heupel's not going anywhere but even if he does, we as fans have no control over it.
