'19 WV OL Darnell Wright (Tennessee signee)

Tatum played a very good game vs Allen of Ky who's going in the 1st round. But he needs to live in the weight room and get serious about it for next yr. He has the tools to make a lot of money (big man who moves well) but he's got to get a lot stronger.

In reference to Jahmir Johnson:
“We recruited him to play tackle," Pruitt explained. "Kind of with the whole deal going with Trey, trying to figure out, OK, who’s the O-line going to be, I think it was pretty evident early on that Jahmir was probably one of the best five. What position was he going to play? Are we going to have Trey? Are we not going to have Trey?

"To be fair to him, once we made him the left guard, and then we lost Trey, we didn’t want to move him again so we we wouldn’t be starting. That’s kind of where he’s been. Now he’s been taking snaps at tackle, and he could do that, but because Jahmir’s a little bit light right now, he needs to put on some weight.”

I think Jahmir without a doubt will be swapping time with Morris at LT. Jahmir needs to get to 300+, which he can do easily since he barely got 3 square meals in JUCO a day. As long as Morris comes out of this labrum thing well, he should be able to hop in and learn the ropes.
Nothing wrong with Richmond and Tatum fighting for the RT spot with Niehaus for a little depth at either tackle spot. Then let Wright, Carvin, Hall, R Johnson fight for the RG and LG spots. Kennedy should solidify the center spot with Lampley getting snaps there as well.

Forget the 3 square meals a day stuff. Just feed him a ton of steak, eggs and red meat. He will gain stength at a rapid rate without gaining fat.

Oh of course. I just meant that there was an article back in the summer saying how he barely got breakfast lunch and dinner. A whole off season in the UT weight room and nutrition program will put weight on him easily. I’m pretty excited about him. Playing at 6’6 270 and holding his own last season is impressive to me

I got ya. I am excited for him as well. Especially since he will be a year into a real deal strength and conditioning program with good nutrition.

Hopefully Hall shapes up. We need him for depth purposes at the moment. Unless somehow we can land some OL transfers.

It would be nice to have him as a reserve. He’s not very reliable for an entire game but relief duty would be nice. I think he’s just gonna hang it up though.

Definitely would be nice to have him in the 2 deep. I would like to see Carvin lock down one of the guard spots then have R. Johnson/Wright fight for that other spot. Seems like RG or LG would be a relatively easy position for Wright to ease in to after seeing the success Trey Smith had instantly there as a freshman (i know he’s an anomaly, but still). Btw IF Trey comes back and takes his LG spot, that offensive line should be looking pretty stout

He should have redshirted, no thanks to the lack of recruiting real depth at OL by botch.

People forget about Ollie Lane. Last I read he was 6'6 320 lbs. Had a redshirt to get stronger and learn from Friend. Maybe he will beast out and earn some play time.

If our recruits can’t unseat Tatum quality players that scares me
Agree here...doesn't mean he's not a guy in the rotation, but if Trey not coming back, there's no position on OL where frosh won't get a ton of time. Kinda like any mock lineup not including Peterson or Crouch.

It's a shame too. Hall had such potential until his injuries.
Thank God we got Fitz to stay. Will play a pivotal role In Keeping our players stout and less likely to be injured through his outstanding S&C program. Dont see us having to worry about him leaving for years now that we got past this years situation with Locksley and his Alma mater school.

Tatum played ok but he like many of our current OL not named Trey, Kennedy, Jahmir don't have that nasty dog in them. Wright, Morris, Lampley appear to have that trait in HS film at least

I agree it's big time. It's crazy how much turnover we have.

Hall’s body has betrayed him. We have to process another 7-8 guys for next year and he’s graduated. I am not sure he’s gonna suit up for us this fall.

Yeah I remember when he (Hall) and Jones played lights out against Bama in T-Town when we almost pulled the upset (2015?) Too bad both had what looks like career ending injuries.

I don't really agree with that on Jahmir. I thought he definitely played with a mean streak.
