'19 WV OL Darnell Wright (Tennessee signee)

I think this is a 5-9 quality class. I think some guys are badly underrated, and I don't think any of the injuries are severe. Kmacs worst ailment was a horrible case of dontgiveacrapitis. It was an epidemic.

Not sure any injuries are career ending (severe?), but we've seen all too many times how an injury can lead to recurring injuries or never living up to an original ceiling. Crouch, Morris, Harris, a lot of top level talent, having injuries is concerning to this class's ceiling.

True. But it appears that very few schools quit recruiting these guys because of their injuries.

Fair enough. But you are also likely to focus most on UT's class and in a positive way. Many see a couple 5 stars and handful of 4 stars and are very impressed with recent recruiting. But look at other top 10 teams and this is normal (and well below normal for top 5 classes).

That is, you probably don't focus on other teams' classes and see their gems. You know most about our guys and are likely to find positives more than negatives. More likely to discount our guys' issues - this year especially guys that are injured, but also guys that had questionable senior years but stood pat (Maleik Gray is the best example of this ever, but McCollough is this year). Also curious we had a number of guys drop from last year till now. Not many positive movers, except Harrison, Russell if he lands. All positives and negatives taken into account, I'll just take the composite score for what it is. I'm no expert and have no scouting background. Do you?
Nobody here is.. what the heck does that have to do with anything?

Look...you either like this class and think it is better than it's ranking or you don't. I don't have much faith in any of the "experts" anymore.

False dichotomy...what if there's a third option and we believe the ranking is spot on?

I have no idea, but that's why I defer to an accumulation of expert knowledge, ie the composite score. Looking at one's own class is highly susceptible to biases, I would imagine.

No doubt, a top-15 player turn top 50 or 100 will still have many suitors. But it's undoubtedly a concern of some magnitude. Hopefully not with these 3-4, but I won't be shocked either if they pull a Tuttle/kmac/kirkland, etc either.

Could you point out where said expert knowledge is?

Why do I have to look at another team's class to determine if I like UT's class ?

There is always bias involved its human nature. lol

I think this is a very good class for us. Hit on alot of needs. No matter how many post you dilute this thread with most people like it and understand rivals dont like us.

"Experts"...lol. The only "experts" I trust anymore are on our staff.

Oh i love this class. I was defending it from someone that was questioning if it was a top 10 class... but yes the injuries on top end players is a concern. i thought that might be why he didnt think it was that good

We were talking rankings, not like/dislike, but the relative position of this class to others. That's why i mentioned only looking at our class.

That's real good analysis. Wright is ready to step in day 1 and start. He is excellent in pass pro, and his feet really stand out on tape. Very athletic and quick, and his hand fighting is violent and instinctive. Not to concerned about his run blocking at this stage, as the most important thing for him will be transitioning to the speed of the college game. I expect that transition to come naturally. Agree with the consensus that Wright showed out at the all star game, and was the standout at his position. But Neal was always going to get that extra love and the Gump Bump in the final rankings.

Regardless, I'm going to feel much better next year when Wright is making seal blocks on the last man, and allowing the rest of the line to execute their assignments. DW is a big reason why I'm expecting a step up in the play of the offensive line next year. He's a special player, and is going to be the foundation of our offensive line going forward.
I think Morris is just as good. IDC what any recruiting site thinks.

You totally misunderstood my original post...I do not question this class, I think this class is BADLY and stupidly underrated. I don't understand how you missed that..😏

Even the 247composite is hard to acknowledge, anymore. Bama gets way too many players committed that are top 250 players, but end up being top 100 players when all is said and done. There is a bias with Bama leans/commits & pretty much everyone knows it. I'm sure other schools fans can even see it.

lol! But id say 247 has legit evaluators. espn has highly respected ones too, just a very undersized staff. rivals sucks
I agree with you general breakdown of the recruiting services, the problem is that you said that you rely on the composite.

If you agree that Rivals sucks (they're way biased also) and ESPN is understaffed; AND they make up so much of the composite score, then....?
I just believe if you take Rivals out, our composite score changes for the better.
But it doesn't matter to me atm. I'll roll with Pruitt until he gives a reason not to.
