He's in a love triangle with Lana and Summer Rae. I wouldn't say he's in great position right now.
This whole "be a cool kid and hate Cena" movement is ridiculous.
I'm just trying to figure out who Cena has buried. Let's revisit his recent feuds:
Rusev- In a love feud with Lana, Summer Rae and Ziggler. Only superstar I remember in recent memory to get spots every week, despite being out with a real injury. Ziggler is even off shooting a movie, I mean healing from a trachea injury caused by Rusev, and Rusev still main evented.
Lesnar- Became champ, headlined WrestleMania, headlined Battleground and is about to headline SummerSlam
The Shield- Reigns is in a big feud with Bray Wyatt and is the supposed actual future of the company. Ambrose has been featured each week and involved in some good storylines of his own (you could make the case he's not being used enough though). Rollins, well, he's only the WWE champion.
Bray Wyatt- Always loses, but he's supposed to be a bad guy (for now) and bad guys usually end up losing feuds. Gets the longest promo every Monday night.
Kevin Owens- Remains to be seen, but Cena gave a fresh out of NXT star prominent play for three months.
So, in summary, Cena definitely buries everybody.
If you think Rusev is in a good spot right now then you're crazy. The problem with Cena going over in that fued was what was gained by Cena or The WWE by giving him Rusev's first pinfall/submission lost? Why not give it to somebody who could use the rub to help advance their career?
How did Cena help Lesnar? He had just beaten the Undertaker at Wrestlemania and broken the streak.....he was already getting a super push.
Cena fueded with the shield like 3 years ago. To say he's the reason they have there spots now is just ridiculous.
Bray Wyatt lost a lot of momentum when he lost his fued with Cena.
Kevin Owens is tbd but he should have walked Battleground US Champ.
The problem is that young heels keep getting built up then they get fed to Cena. Cena doesn't need to keep winning every fued he is in. He needs to start putting people over to help build towards the future of the WWE. p
The "problem"with Cena is that there's 5 hrs of live TV and a PPV every month to fill. Top faces have never lost feuds, but feuds used to last 3-6 months instead of 1-2 PPV cycles. We'll see Cena in as many angles this year as a guy like Jerry Lawler had in 4-5 years.
