Yadier Molina did his best George Brett impression tonight

As I've said many times on here, I've got nothing against the Cardinals. Listened to the last three innings of most of their games growing up. Rooted for Herzog's teams in their wars with the Mets. That said, there's a portion of their fanbase who has zero grasp on the reality of their "history." They aren't the Yankees. For that matter, they aren't as historically significant as the Dodgers. The Cardinals are in that next tier, with the Reds, Red Sox, and Tigers. They might be at the head of that group, but it's not by much and they aren't within screaming distance of the Yanks or Dodgers.

Ah, the Mets.....

It's funny living in east TN now and people wondering why in the world I hate the Mets with such a passion, even over 20 after their war ended.

And as far as team history goes, I think too many people take Musial and transplant him into every player in the team's hsitory pre Gibson/Brock.

You keep acting like the Cardinals are the Yankees. It's actually funny to watch. Of course, I'm not surprised that Cardinal fans revel in the accomplishments of bigoted trash like Enos Slaughter and Dixie Walker. It fits the mentality of the average Card fan.

You nailed it man. I'm a biggot and miss the days od no "coloreds" in MLB... Give me a damned break. I never said they were anywhere near the Yanks because no team is.
But they are leaps and bounds ahead of the reds.
And at least the biggots for the cards were pre color TV not in the best of times for the team like your reds during their glory days with Marge.

Marge owned the team in the '70s? Oh, that's right. That's you showing exactly how much "history" you really know.

I didn't say she was the owner in the 70's. She owned them from the mid 80's through the 90's when Lou was the manager and they swept the A's in the World Series.
Which means many players on your team was was alive when your owner showed bigotry.
Now that's a classy org.

Hat, I guess that's why you don't wanna pay attention to the recent past much less the history. I see your reasoning. My bad.

Since you seem to think division titles are so important, let's look at some numbers since the beginning of division play:

World Championships: Reds 3 Cardinals 2.
National League Titles: Reds 5 Cardinals 5.
Division Titles: Reds 9 Cardinals 10.
That doesn't take into account that both teams had the best overall record in their division in '81(The Reds had the best record in baseball) or the Reds leading the NL Central when the strike wiped out the season in '94. So, since 1969, it sure doesn't look like there's much difference.

Yadi arguing like he did was dumb, but emotions make you do dumb things. Can't say I would have been pleased. 5 games isn't bad.

Another thing, La Russa has to be the absolute biggest cry baby in MLB. Good Lord, you would think he was defending his wife or children the other day when defending Pujols getting pitched inside. Ridiculous. Apparently you can't pitch inside to Albert. Anyone else you can, but not Albert.

Another thing, I've always found Cardinal fans to be 1 of 2 types.

1. Classy fan with true appreciation for baseball. Usually very respectful in how they act.

2. Douche that jumped on bandwagon because of McGwire or Albert, has no sense of history, thinks they are the best team to ever exist in any sport.

I have the same issue with the Dodgers. There's an entire generation of baseball fans who don't understand why Reds and Dodgers fans 40 and over hate the other team for all they are worth.
