Good luck OB. When you start posting about spelling/grammatical errors, and complaining about duplicate threads or threads in the wrong forum, we'll know withdrawal symptoms are kicking in.

Hahaha

:)

I quit smoking today. And figured what the hell and quit drinking (alcohol) as well. They both seem to go hand and hand

I am however cheating. Picked up the patches and several bags of dum dum suckers.

Quitter!

Nah, best of luck to you.

I'm an old man and have never smoked (tobacco).....not even for a few days in Jr High School....I don't know why but I was somewhat of a crusader against it, even back in the old days when everyone smoked everywhere including stores, planes and offices at work....anyway as the effort to eliminate it intensified and made real progress in changing the way we think about smoking I began to see the light that after smoking was eradicated, they (health insurance, the gov, employers, etc) would come after fat people like me so I kinda appreciate smokers now days...

good luck, OB

Ducreux
Before they come after you for being fat, their going to come after the companies making people fat..

Just like they did to Philip Morris, and other Tobaccco companies in the 90's...
Insurance companies are already charging an additional surcharge, if you smoke

Smoking man. It's a hell of a drug. Lol.

I've ran out of smokes before and it's rough. But I'm on day 2 and so far so good. The patches and suckers are helping a lot. Making the transition easier.

Can I count on your support coug? Lol

You have my full support on quitting smoking I can't speak for the alcohol though. The liver is bad, it must be punished.

Update us. Know it's only been 2 days

The dum dum's helped a lot. The patch is doing ok, but I'm going to pick up the gum as well, for stressful times.

I have slipped up a couple times but I am making progress.
No crazy mood swings or anything. This was my biggest fear.

Cessed you are a good father quitting or not.

I took Zyban (Bupropion hydrochloride) one time and I not only did not crave nicotine but I did not even want a cup of coffee in the morning. That stuff was like some kinda speed or something.

Hell of thing about the side affects>>>>> none to very little hangover after a overindulgence into your other "vice".

Know that the cravings will hit hard at first but only last a minute or two before they subside.

Toothpicks help a lot. Mint ones so you're not always eating candy. Fwiw.

Good luck!

AA is a great support resource. It's not just for derelict alcoholics and junkies. I have gone to open meetings from time to time for totally non substance related issues. I always leave feeling a little taller and a little better.

I don't think he needs that label. Come on now.
