Yeah we can run in Oklahoma with a 90 dollar permit.( monthly) We don't permit them unless we are gonna run Oklahoma.

I certainly wasn't implying that "label".

Most folks think AA is only for those struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. It isn't. It can be for anyone struggling with getting over anything...even if it is just quitting smoking.

In the right group or meeting, it can be an incredibly uplifting/strengthening environment.

Any tips or tricks?

I've been off cigarettes (and Skoal and chew) for over 12 years now after 20 years on it, having quit a bunch of times before it took, and I figured out that there's only one trick that really works: the complete and total acceptance in your head that you are done.

It's a big deal, no doubt, because it was a big part of your life, but it's totally doable. I kind of thought of it like... say, in a way worse situation, you lost an arm or a leg. It sucks, but there's nothing you can do to change it so you keep going and learn a new way because you have to. Your loss isn't that dire but if you look at it with the same finality and understand and accept that it's just something you won't ever have again, you will move on and learn a new way. And it will be awesome. I remember how good it was to have back then but life now, not being a smoker, is waaaay better.

The best thing you have going for you is that promise to your kid. He'll get way more out of this in his life than you will in yours. Besides getting to have his dad around for longer, and not suffering second-hand effects, etc., etc., he gets an up-front example of how to man up and do what's got to be done. So let him know how hard it is, what you're doing. And let him know you're doing it because you love him. And good luck and long life to you.
