I don't support gay marriage but if the people of a state voted to allow it then I am fine with that. I would not say I am a bigot though, I don't have anything against someone just because they are gay. Someone being gay has nothing to do with me.

Yes it does. I just told you. It's taking something away from a certain group of people because they were born a certain way. It's not segregation by definition, but the principal remains the same.

It does not have to controvert the definitions you have looked up; it simply must recognize that "large" is a relative termed defined by the context in which it is used.
