You are mistaken if you blame pearl

UT looked flat and overconfident---no big deal. Pearl will have them ready when the SEC schedule starts--mark it down!

Let me reflect, is this the same Coach Oneill I meet at the Silver Spoon in West Knoxville, that some of you people thought couldn't coach and ran off. Seems like what goes around comes around again and bites us in the arse.

This team definitely has some major issues. The team must have been out partying all night or something. They forgot what they came to California to do.
TODAY it was NOT a coaching problem, but a player problem. IF THIS CONTINUES THEN it is a Coaching Problem. All of these post's Damning Pearl need to be erased. Everything was just fine and dandy when we were beating our earlier opponents nearly 2 to 1.
All of the critics were silent. YES, THIS was probably the worst game I've seen UT play in 15 years. Just like the TN Titans turned things around after an 0-6 start, we will see if things will get turned around here. GO VOLS

I am assuming you are kidding and my sarcasm detector just needs new batteries.

I'm not kidding at all. If you remember Kevin O'Neill's time here at Tennessee, this is how he competed against teams with superior talent (as was most teams he played against while he was here). I always thought he was an excellent tactician, and he always put his team in a postion to win games. It is too bad that he left Tennessee when he did, and under the circumstances that he did.

You can keep your old batteries.

He had a losing record while he was here. I was not aware that we competed at all back then.

He inherited arguably UT's worst team ever. He had nothing to build anything on and an AD who didn't give a crap about basketball.

I'll rephrase: He has a losing record for his career. I am not saying he can't do great things at USC, but many here are acting as though we should have him over Pearl. I am just curious what he has done in previous coaching jobs that would warrant that sentiment.

Ko recently said he wishes pearl well and that he acted like a child and a jerk at ut and that cost him his job

I'm just quoting this so that people get a second chance to see how laughable it is.

I find nothing laughable about his post. In no way I am I taking up for the effort this squad gave against usc in the defensive end or on the glass. In concerns to the topic on hand from a coaching standpoint offensively...if you have ever put in an offense or drawn up a play for a team if kids are getting wide open and uncontested looks you have done your job. I've never seen a coach draw up how to finish the play or make the open jumper. Maybe you are thinking of xbox.. but it's not like March Madness 2010 where you can go in pick a different schools offense at halftime. The fact that you think this mans post was laughable really shows your basketball IQ.

well said. don't blame the coach for that... a coach can't control how players play. i don't even think a coach is allowed to talk to their players are they? let alone teach them about proper defensive stance.. or what a "box out" is.... after all its just to difficult to explain complicated things like having good shot selection.

Is he allowed to ask them to sit on the bench if they dont follow the game plan . No wait ........:peace2:

So Pearl gets the credit (and a raise)when we win and the players get the blame when we lose? Go figure.

been there in coaching as done it for 15 years.....sometimes things just don't go your way at all

they were hyped for KO verse his old team and played their super bowl today.

not CBP fault following:
20/58 2's for 34% worst of year
2/22 3's 9%.worst of year
13/25 52% ft's worst of year.

for usc
54% 2's... 2nd best of year
42% 3's best of year
80 fts

we also missed i guarantee over half our shots WIDE OPEN including 6 shots from within 2 feet.

COACHING CANNOT CHANGE THAT..

tonight was USC's night....PERIOD

How many players and teams have their "night" against UT? It's starting to get laughable at this point. How many players did we let score a career high last year?
