You are not a recruiter!

That does not make you a recruiter...thats called being a fan.

Its one thing to go to a game that you know a dozen recruits are at and scream your lungs out...its a totally different thing to take time to post some creepy message on their facebook wall and then have a 30 post argument about why UT is better than UGA or UF....on THEIR Facebook wall. I just don't see how any right-minded UT fan would condone that.

I beg to differ. One of the integral parts of being a "recruiter" is influencing. When you are at a stadium and screaming to make the stadium louder and there are prospects on official visits at the stadium, you are influencing them. When you are wearing UT clothes in public and a prospective recruit sees you (and maybe others) doing so then it influences them. I'm not saying they think "oh that guy at the mall has a UT shirt on so I'm going to UT." But it shows the kid we have fans that are proud of our school. I didn't even mention kids at UT painting the rock with prospective commitments names'. Is this wrong? It's recruiting and we're all a part of it. And furthermore, being a fan and a recruiter isn't mutually exclusive. You can be both.

Secondly, did you even read my post? Here's what I said, "While I don't necessarily support posting 'Come to Rocky Top' on prospects' facebook walls... " You need to learn to read more thoroughly, sir. Next time you want to be self righteous you may want to try to pick apart someone who was wrong.

No one is being self-righteous. When UT fans act like idiots, it embarasses you and me. I read just fine, thanks. I wasn't making the point to take anything away from what you were saying. You are not the fan that all this frustration is aimed at. You said that we were recruiters...I disagreed. I told you why and then went on to explain the difference in your point and the original point, which IF YOU WOULD CARE TO READ, might show you that there is a difference between the die-hard fan (you and I) and the guys who literally feel that they are UT recruiters and a part of some staff. Now, what does that have to do with my reading comprehension?

I just think there is a huge difference between the fans at a stadium giving their all and the guys who post creepy messages on Facebook walls. I'm sorry if you felt like I was attacking you...that definately wasn't the case

You still don't get my point. Why would you refute what I said when I agreed with you in the first place with the exception of us all being recruiters. Which I still believe we are. I understand the difference you speak of between diehard fans that don't post messages on facebook and diehard fans that do, but regardless we're all recruiters. I don't think it's right to post things on recruits' facebook walls, but I'm still adamant that we are all recruiters. We may not go to recruits homes and shouldn't be posting things on their fb walls, but we are recruiters by being fans.
