Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran gave a fatwa about Quran 65.4:

“A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl is still a baby being breastfed. A man, however is prohibited from having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, other sexual acts such as foreplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy is allowed. A man having intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not committed a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged. If the girl, however, is permanently damaged, the man must provide for her all her life. But this girl will not count as one of the man’s four permanent wives. He also is not permitted to marry the girl’s sister.”

There is a reason for this fatwa, the Prophet Muhammad Married a six-year-old named Aisha and had Sex with the girl by the time she was nine:

That's a teaching. That's modern.

Yes, because if it's anything we hear about most Muslims practicing in their homes, it's having sex with 5th grade girls.

Man, lemme tell ya... it's a good thing most people here are smart enough to distinguish the good, "peace be with you" Christians from the dunce forum crusaders.

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother..."
Matthew 10:34-35

Just in case you don't know... that's from the NT.

I think it goes back to the Imams. They shut the people away from the rest of the word, and allow these extreme ideas taught in their schools to germinate.

That could be the case. But are they teaching out of the text they follow.

Im not justified in such acts under my belief.

Last thing, christianity and the teachings of christ is greek. You're confusing this with the Jews and the teaching of the Torah.

You took matthew out of context. The word sword was put in by King james as an example word. The word actually translates as wedge, not sword. He is talking about driving a wedge into the family. Try again.

Ah, but what if you lived under an authoritarian US regime that taught both testaments of the Bible and some of the warlike principals that came with it?

Things wouldn't be the same, and neither would your beliefs. Because we live in a free country, we can derive our own ideal take from our respective religions. People, generally, aren't warlike and evil. With free thought comes a certain degree of peace and a very limited degree of hate.

so which version of the Bible are we supposed to use? Looks like it keeps changing

Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it." (Matthew 10:34-39 NASB)

The full text mentions nothing of violence, buddy. It is talking about driving a wedge into the family. Wanna try again brainiac?

Why do you resort to name calling so much? it doesn't help in proving your point.

Actually, Jesus said that. It was about the troubles his disciples will face in following his teachings.

Spiritual reformation never comes without blood, and ol' JC is addressing that.

Ha! How about that? A godless hooligan knows this stuff in greater detail than you.

I was wondering when you'd jump in?

The Old testament is the Torah and was changed when Christ came. The New testament is the full fillment of the Old and he became the law. Jews do not follow the NT and Christ followers understand that the OT was changed by Christ. OT eye for an eye. NT turn the other cheek.

See the difference? :good!:

The first bold makes the second bold totally false in what I believe.

Beecher, you frankly don't know how much free will and free thought you'd have if you were born and raised in an authoritarian regime. You can't say "I wouldn't have bought into fascism if I was a young German in the late 30's."

Maybe you just misunderstood what point I'm trying to make... or the thought of agreeing with me is making you sick.

LOL. No it's not a street fight. It's a conversation with a few different views against mind with a moderator who always shows up to egg things on.
