The RPI and SOS are the major differences, if you don't understand how that effects a resume I'm not sure what to tell you.
It's not only about wins and losses, there's a lot more that goes into it. If it was only about wins and losses a team like Villanova wouldn't have gotten in last year with 18 wins.
Our resume right now is better than either of the previous two years, if I laid all 3 out and said pick one, nobody in their right mind would pick the other 2.
BTO, I'm guessing that's a knock on BP's last year? Come on man...not sure what hang-ups you have with the dude, but he could (and will) coach circles around your boy CCM. At least he made the tourney.
So a RPI of 200 and a RPI of 54 are the same?
WOW. You're supposed to never go full retard man, c'mon.
They aren't the same. One puts you within spitting distance, while one does not. But, if the RPI is still 54 at the end of the season, it might as well be 200. Average of the last 4 teams in the tournament from 2009-2012 was 45. Only two made it with an RPI over 54 - Clemson at 55 and USC at 73 - both in 2011.
Last year's last 4 in were MTSU (28), St. Mary's (29), LaSalle (46) and Boise (44).
Is it easier to move your RPI into the 30-40 range from 54, or 200? That's my point.
Yes or no. Are we in a better position than either of Martin's previous 2 years, on this date?

In Seth's latest SI article he says Tennessee is the most disappointing team in the country. Davis is usually complimentary of us and where we are going but this is a damning statement. Davis is not known to be a flame thrower or into statements for shock value.
Ten Teams That Helped Themselves:
Tennessee (25) Cuonzo Martin did a good job challenging his team with this schedule, but too often his Volunteers did not rise up to meet it. Their best nonconference wins came over Xavier at the Battle 4 Atlantis and against Virginia at home. The fact that they started SEC play with a road win at LSU is a good sign.
