I would hardly consider that to be the same, we are in a better position than the previous 2 years, even after last night.

Well, for RPI, aren't we actually 9-5?

Looking back at last years schedule up to January12, it looks tougher than this years, wouldn't you say? We had the same Wichita State, UVA, Xavier, but also added Georgetown, Memphis, and Okie St. That's pretty stiff.

I would agree our OOC SOS was probably better, but factor in at Xavier and at Wichita are better than home like last year. And Virginia is a better team this year than last year, so that's an improvement.

The increase in SOS is gonna be conference wise though, as the SEC is at least a little better than last year.

You can play tough games, but you've gotta win some....we are clearly in better position on this date this year than the previous 2.

Oh I agree, you gotta win some. I think the frustration is that our record is marginally better (really the Tusculum game shouldn't be included to make the comparison fair) at 9-5 vs. 8-6 last year. And our schedule to this point last year was harder.

Most people, and probably even yourself, would have thought we were going to be more than one game better than last years team at this point with the talent we've got.

We still have a chance to make the tournament........The NIT tournament....UK, UF and Ole Miss are probably gonna club us like baby seals.

Sort of a cop out answer: the projections pick UT to lose @UK and @Florida specifically, and then another 3 or so unspecified games in conference.

However, Kenpom's projections for this specific game said UT should win 67-53 and had a 93% chance of winning.

As MC specified, we were favored in 16 of 18 conference games, but projections had us going 13-5. So they had us losing 3 games that we weren't predicted to lose, if that makes sense.

Now obviously the more likely games would be say at Missouri, home to Florida and maybe at Bama...but those weren't specified, just simply predicted to lose 3 games that we were favored to win.

Yeah, that's about the same record. And, I haven't seen much of anything to give me an indication that we'll be in a better position the rest of the year, either.

Wins and losses, good wins, bad losses. We are really 9-5 and that isn't much different than the last two years.

The RPI and SOS are the major differences, if you don't understand how that effects a resume I'm not sure what to tell you.

It's not only about wins and losses, there's a lot more that goes into it. If it was only about wins and losses a team like Villanova wouldn't have gotten in last year with 18 wins.

Our resume right now is better than either of the previous two years, if I laid all 3 out and said pick one, nobody in their right mind would pick the other 2.

The battle cry for Tennessee Basketball fans:
"We suck. But hey, at least we're better than the last 2 years."

Hard to imagine us losing by 30+ in the first round, but who knows.

BTO, I'm guessing that's a knock on BP's last year? Come on man...not sure what hang-ups you have with the dude, but he could (and will) coach circles around your boy CCM. At least he made the tourney.
