....and gosh darn it, people like me.Tebow by a couple of touchdowns.
1) He's the premier player form the highest ranked team with a viable candidate; 2) He set records in several respects, and not miniscule records at that; 3) He is fun to watch and an easy-going guy who will do well with the attention.
this was the worst set of defenses I have ever seen in the SEC, but that argument works against McFadden as well.actually i'd give more credance to that........it's not like FL has a running back they can legitimately count on, so they run tebow. they run him a lot. everyone knows it. and no one has stopped it to the tune of 51 td's.
and he did that in the SEC against supposedly very good defenses.
and the same isn't true of Tebow?this was the worst set of defenses I have ever seen in the SEC, but that argument works against McFadden as well.
McFadden's my guy because everyone in the stadium keyed on him in every game (because their passing game actually set back AR football 50 years) and he still managed to abuse some teams (LSU, AL and SC were thoroughly abused)
UF has big time weapons on O. If Harvin and Caldwell are Taylor and Rogers, he is an entirely different football player.and the same isn't true of Tebow?
the thing, imo, that separates the two is that Tebow did something that no other qb has ever done.
there's not another player that can put that on their resume this year.
Brennan and I'm being serious.
When Brennan went out and their backup came in and put up numbers "that project out to be about the same as Brennan's," as the announcers kept telling us during that Nevada game, then that's a pretty good indication that he's a system quarterback.
(Of course, the same argument could be made against Tebow -- if he plays in any other offense in the country, then no way he gets the same numbers, because most of those rushing TDs would have gone to an actual running back. Like Brennan, Tebow's numbers are phenomenal because his number of attempts is phenomenal. He's either passing the ball or running himself on what, 90% of Florida's plays?)

Tebow is surrounded by playmakers. Only exception is no true RB, and even then we used some of our WRs for various plays. The notion that Tebow does not deserve the Heisman because he touches the ball so many times is just the most Vol-biased bunch of crap I've ever read. He gets the touches because he's that good, not because there isn't anyone else to give it to.
I mean hate the Gators all you want, but don't make a blithering idiot out of yourself.
Oh don't be an ass. If Brennan is going to be penalized for being a "system" QB than so should Tebow.
I'm not knocking the guy. He's a helluva athlete.
Look at McFadden. He's not surrounded by playmakers.
McFadden is the most outstanding football player in America and it is not really close. He is the best running back I have ever seen in person (and that is saying something). Last year they held it against him for being a Soph and this year they are going to give it to a Soph? There is so much hypocricy in the Hman voting it is disgusting. Taking nothing away from Tebow but there is no way he is a better football player than McFadden. 17 of his Rushing TD's were from 3 yards or closer. Why? No back at UF to hand it off to. If stats are all you look at then there is no question you go with Colt Brennan. Looking at the body of work and what you did it against it is clear to those who know football that McFadden earned this trophy.
