Your heisman vote goes to.....

I all him a turd cause he plays for FLorida. Also show me where I said anything bad about him! You can't and I stand by the statement that you are what you accuse others of being. And I stand by the fact that McFadden is the best player in the nation and would go first to just about every team in the NFL.

Let me get this straight.

"I call him a turd..."

and

"Also show me where I said anything bad about him!"

Do you not see the inconsistentcy there?

I think the voters got caught last year. They gave the award to Smith thinking that McFadden would put up the same eye-popping numbers. They never thought Timmy would do what he's done.

McFadden this year, Timmy next year. I would bet the house that's how it is going to go down.

but i thought it wasn't about careers, only specific years???

See Ron Dayne. Sometimes it's obviously a career award; sometimes it's obviously based only on one year. Sometimes it's just the QB on a winning team; Troy Smith wasn't among the ten best players in the country last year.

Basically it's so arbitrary that it there's no telling who will win it. It's hard to argue that somebody got screwed when there are no criteria with which to evaluate that assertion.

the only reason i even bring that up is, and i hate to even do this, but..............when Manning was up for the award, the knock was his record against FL. some of the manning supporters in the media were quick to point out his season and career as a culmination to the award..........then i specifically remember, when it became crunch time, when the dominos began to fall, everyone saying it's "not a career award".

I'll never forget watching the TN/KY game in 95 and Manning threw for over 500 yards, 4-5 TD's in a win at KY. it was on Jefferson Pilot. later that day, Charles Woodson returned a punt against Ohio St. and i just knew it was over.
anyway, don't want to sound like i'm crying over spilt milk, though i guess i am....i digress.......

then as Ricky Williams and Ron Dayne are accepting their awards a short time later in the future.......the only thing i see next to their names are career rushing yards and TD's.......RW career is being compared to EC's.......eh, it made me sick, and i simply stopped caring.

truth be known, this award simply doesn't mean as much to me as it used to. it's beauty contest, nothing more.

Why are you afraid to bring that up?

I completely agree with you. The main problem is that the criteria for the award vary from voter to voter, and from year to year. If this year there had been a team out there that dominated and had a senior leader, then likely he'd have gotten it.

But in a year where no team stood out -- at all -- that means the voters are looking for marquise players, players that have set records or simply lived up to a bunch of hype. McFadden is a beast, but as RBs go they usually have to be on a national championship contender. Tebow is on a team that gets a lot of attention and he's done some pretty amazing things.

Not taking anything away from McFadden at all. Just saying that under all the circumstances the voters are going to go for the highlight reel that is Tebow. Listen, say what you want -- every weekend he does something in a game that makes you just shake your head in amazement.

The Woodson-Williams-Dayne-Weinke sequence in the late 90s was what killed my interest in it completely, because it was obvious that there's not even any pretense of year-to-year consistency in what they're voting for. If I don't even know what the award is supposed to honor, how can I care who wins it?

S---T---R---E---T---C---H!

You know what I meant. As a Player. Show me where I said he was not a good player or anything bad about his playing. So why don't you go wash your Tebow pj's and sheet set and quit with the crying already. He is a very good player but he is NOT the best this year. If McFadden came back he would not be the best next year either.

You must be fairly easily amazed. As I've said repeatedly, Tebow's a great player, but there's not much that shouts "highlight reel!" about a QB faking a handoff and plowing between the tackles for 12 yards.

I'm fairly convinced now that Tebow's going to win the award, at based on the timbre of the ESPN hype machine. Maybe McFadden will be over the disappointment in five years when he's going to the Pro Bowl every year and Tebow is starting up his real estate business in Gainesville.

I would say disgust instead of amazement, but since the Gators were losing, I didn't have that same feeling of resentment towards him.

Jacob Hester runs better than Tim Tebow.

Tebow's a highlight reel like Mark van Eeghen was a hgihlight guy. Maybe even someone more exciting like John Riggins.

I think McFadden deserves it....

I think Tebow will win it

As much as I want to say McFadden after reading through lawgator1's ridiculous posts in this thread, it should go to Tebow.

Let's say Tebow or McFadden does end up winning it. When was the last time the winner didn't play in a major bowl that particular season? The year Ricky Williams won it? Can't remember what bowl Texas went to that year...

I think they'll give it to McFadden just to make sure he's rewarded for his career, and then Teebow will end up with it next year.
