Your heisman vote goes to.....

Justin, please. In the sense that you are using the word "system," every successful athlete is in a "system." Tebow was recruited because it works for Meyer's spread option "system." So what? Maybe Manning was recruited because he fit the drop back passer profile. Just because the athlete has the right tools to match up to the coach's vision doesn't mean that you ding the guy. Especially one that used his raw athlketic ability play after play, score after score.

I don't penalize Brennan for being in a particular system or having a particular style. I penalize him because he plays against crap defenses.

Me too.

Anyone that says Brennan is a "system" QB can say the same thing about Timmy. I'm not directed this towards you. It just seems several people throw Brennan out because of the "system" when really you should throw him out because La Tech and San Jose State took Hawaii to the wire and the defenses he lights up week after week are glorified high school teams.

I'll take nothing away from Tebow. He's a helluva athlete. But IMO, the best football player in the country is McFadden.

Should the Heisman go to the numbers guy or the best football player?

If it's numbers, look at Crabtree from Texas Tech. What he's done is almost as impressive as Tebow.

If it's best football player, it's McFadden.

All that being said, I'd probably still vote Tebow #1

I don't have any problem at all with people thinking that McFadden has earned the award and can certainly see why he would win it. Just don't think that the artificial reasons conjured up by some to say that Tebow doesn't deserve consideration sound as lame as they are.

Only 12 of his rushing TDs were from 4 yards or closer. This is Tebow

Well then they got it wrong on Tim Brando's show.

I think the kid is good. But there is no way he is the ball player McFadden is. Also you add that last year they nailed him for being a Soph and gave it to Troy Smith then some of the exact same media is saying don't punish Tebow for being a Soph!?
I really don't care who gets it but the truth is McFadden is the most outstanding football player in the nation. Played hurt most of the season, tied the all time rush yards in one game in the History of the SEC and was the ONLY player to put up at least 100 yards on LSU and he had 206, 3td and threw for a TD. Earlier in the year Meyer even showed his team footage of McFadden blocking on a kick off that de-cleated a kid. I just laugh at all who think otherwise on this issue.

Tebow is surrounded by playmakers. Only exception is no true RB, and even then we used some of our WRs for various plays. The notion that Tebow does not deserve the Heisman because he touches the ball so many times is just the most Vol-biased bunch of crap I've ever read. He gets the touches because he's that good, not because there isn't anyone else to give it to.

I mean hate the Gators all you want, but don't make a blithering idiot out of yourself.

I was being somewhat tongue in cheek with the "system quarterback" comment; did you miss my earlier post where I said that Tebow unquestionably had the best season of anybody in football this year? Sorry about the sand in your vagina.

I have no problem with people talking up McFadden and can certainly understand why people would vote for him. You give good reasons for doing so and they make a lot of sense to me.

All I'm doing is making sure that people's dislike for Florida in general does not taint their view of Tebow. An impossible task for some to separate out their rivalry sensibilities from their objective measure of who deserves the award.

As would just about every NFL team. The kid passed Bo Jackson in total yards and has not had 1/10 the talent around him. ZERO passing game for support.

Its a moot point since Tebow won't be coming out early. Surely, McFadden will be drafted very highly. As my fantasy football league owners will tell you, strong and healthy running backs in the NFL are at a premium these days.

We've got awhile to watch Tebow develop his passing acumen. It will be interesting to see how he improves and where he ends up on draft day in a couple of years.

However, come on. Tebow does indeed get so many touches at least in part because there's no one else to give it to -- if there were, your offense against Georgia when Tebow was hurt wouldn't have consisted mostly of him getting his ass kicked behind the line of scrimmage. UF's whole offense this year keyed off the threat of Tebow running, and when that threat was severely curtailed for one game, there was no plan B.

This is a serious question -- what is it about Tebow that makes UF people freak out whenever anybody criticizes him? I have some Gator friends who get absolutely hysterical if you say ANYTHING bad about the guy. You guys treat him like a weak little sister that needs to be coddled. If he's so great, why not just laugh about it, tell us we're jealous, and let his play speak for itself?

I have no doubt that just about every team (excluding a few who have great backs already) would take McFadden over Tebow. No slight, just the way it is.

That's like saying they'd take Joe Namath over Peyton Manning. You can't compare them because they are coming out in different years and the teams at the top aren't the same when its their turn to go on the block. A team right now with a couple of strong running backs but hurt QBs would take Tebow if they could. A team with a weak running game would take McFadden. But you can't compare them against each other since there will be basis for comparison in the first place.

So, there's no truth to the rumor that Tebow is going pro this year?

There is a HUGE difference in decades apart like JN and PM and a year or 2 at most with TT and DM. Like I said, unless it is a team with a very stout RB already you can bet DM would go first. You like to say that there are some on here who cannot see past the fact that he is a turd and you are prolly right. But I will also state that you sir cannot see past him being a turd as well.

Exhibit A is your use of the word "turd." You are so blinded by your fan status that you can't just admit that Tebow is a fantastic player who, if he wins the award, deserves it.

Exhibit B is your weak attempt to turn the tables. Please find a post where I ridiculed another player up for the Heisman because of his being from a rival or even SEC school. I've said over and over that McFadden is a superb player and that if he wins that's just fine by me. No one can argue that McFadden hasn't earned it, just as no one can argue that Tebow hasn't.

Take it easy, LG. Tebow will win it and it probably won't be that close.

McFadden has better demonstrated his worth to the NFL at this stage and he would go higher in the NFL draft.

The Award is not related to the draft. Last year's Award winner went in the 5th round.

Tebow has the skills to be a great NFL QB, and when you guys start using a RB to run the ball, and he sits back and uses his arm, his NFL draft stock will go up although his Heisman-like stats (e.g. all those running TDs) will go down. The stats are what will carry him this year as they are astronomical.

I all him a turd cause he plays for FLorida. Also show me where I said anything bad about him! You can't and I stand by the statement that you are what you accuse others of being. And I stand by the fact that McFadden is the best player in the nation and would go first to just about every team in the NFL.

He's a cocky S.O.B. who regularly taunts the other team's fans. He's a turd. He's also a great college player. These things are not mutually exclusive. I'd love to have him on my team (not that we'd take advantage of his talents), but he regularly does things that would make me cringe if I were a UF fan.
