It's easy to make fun of Creed, but their first album really was good.
The same could be said of so many bands listed in this "hate" thread. Early Dave, Matchbox 20's first album, etc... I don't know exactly what happens to musicians once they make it big. Perhaps the stress and grind of touring, the pressure to constantly write and release new material, the lack of drive that must certainly follow money and success, distractions that accompany said money and fame?
Often, I feel like so many new bands that I like have spent their lives getting those first one or two incredible albums together, but then they just don't have enough time or creativity to perpetuate.
Personally, I have written about an album's worth of what I believe to be really good songs. It's taken me nearly 15 years to get there. I can't imagine someone telling me that I need to hit the road, do TV, still try to live my life and have a family, and yet write another 12 songs that will live up to what I just released. It would be tough.
