Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

Grizz were 16-25 on the road in the regular season. Being down 3-1 isn’t surprising after losing game one. It was predictable.

Grizz will win G5 on Wednesday and get one more whoop that trick out of the way. Then, we’ll be finished.

This series was won because the Lakers have won the coaching matchup and 4-7 on the Lakers (Rui, Reeves, Vanderbilt, Schrewder) have thoroughly outplayed Dillon, Tyus, Tillman, Santi....

If they get blown out Wednesday night I think you have to look at turning over the roster some or changing coaches. That’d be problematic
It just feels like the team has regressed, which shouldn’t happen as the young team is gaining experience.

What kind of roster turnover are you thinking?

I would like to think dillon brooks is an obvious choice but we’re still rolling him out there 40+ minutes in a must win game.

If they get blown off the floor in a home G5 eliminator I think you have to honestly look at the Ja-Bane-Jaren trio, Jenkins, or adding an impact veteran. Not this jae crowder or danny green ********.

Kleiman is both in charge and the GM so he’s not going to fire himself. Next in line is Jenkins, who should be safe but has some specific areas to improve. They’re not going to do anything with Ja. They shouldn’t do anything with Bane or Jaren. Hard to meaningfully reconstruct the rest of the roster with those 3 in place but the all bark no bite comedy routine is old.

The team plays better with Ja out - it’s just facts at this point. It doesn’t mean the team IS better or has a higher ceiling, but you (as leadership/coach and you as the player) have to figure that out.

Taking turns running ISO is not preferable. Having no one who’s “done it” in the post season is not preferable. Playing a “defensive ace” to guard deangelo Russell (?) who they are leaving wide open to clog the lane for our 3 all star level offensive players is not preferable. Challenging a routine out of bounds play in the 2Q is not preferable. Putting your DPOY and freak defender who continuously saves your ****** perimeter defenders on a 32% 3 pt shooter and out of all defensive actions is not preferable.

Steven Adams is very meaningful to this team and his absence should not be discounted. But you can’t shrug your shoulders and run it back because these guys (players and coaches) are blowing this series.

The Ziaire thing is a huge swing and miss that’s severely limiting this team.

Roddy, Laravia, etc. get some print and it’s easy to clown on those guys but at those draft spots, that’s just poor asset management. The Ziaire thing is crushing.

1. Ja is currently lucky Brooks is taking the lions share of the criticism right now.
2. Unless Ja does more stupid **** off the court, I can't see any realistic way the Ja/JJJ/Bane trio is broken up anytime soon. It also seems incredibly unlikely we come out ahead in any transactions involving Ja. It seems like a far better option to figure out how to optimally use him (not that I know what the solution would be).
