Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

First Grizz game? First playoff game?

Been to quite a few and I think 4 playoff games. I just don't watch as much or talk about much until close to playoff time. Reg season weeknight NBA is unwatchable for me.

Mainly looking forward to getting out of town for a day with an old UT roommate who's gone through a divorce and I haven't seen much of him in the past 2 years, plus the chance to close out should make for a great time.

Good stuff. Hope it's a great day for you. What's the Grizz status in the Nashville metro?

Hell if I know. My group of guys watches these games and we bet with each other. Most of us played the game and they still play in their 40's. Grizz are hard not to pull for. I grew up near Hickory Hill going to the Coliseum to see Memphis State play. The city deserves the recognition.

Admittedly small sample size but the facts are the facts :)

Games James Johnson hasn't played: 3-0
Games James Johnson has played: 0-2

Never fails... radio caller you're on the air, "Why didn't James Johnson get any minutes tonight, I feel like we needed some energy."

Grizz are slowly getting more attention here - at least come playoff time over the last couple years. Media coverage tends to be nonexistent until the playoffs approach. Then Nashville decides that it's going to (for once) act like it likes Memphis. Come June, Nashville will once again start asking when Tennessee will cede Memphis to Mississippi or Arkansas.

There are some game watches (particularly for the playoff games), and it seems that the decision to hold Grizz summer workouts here last year seems to have helped generate some interest.

Lol, let OKC cry about it. They're just upset that their 'most clutch player in the league' is a choke artist. They'll be irrelevant again come Thursday when they're put out.

Lucky! That's awesome

Very lucky. I've been trying to get my lady to buy us tickets for the game but it hasn't worked :)

Then out of nowhere today my mom says "do you want some grizzlies tickets for your birthday"

Definitely blessed with some awesome parents. Mom is a huge grizz fan too so I may take her to her first ever game.

Be loud and proud!

Yep. Kirby was rough man. I pretty much rolled around from mt moriah to Winchester to the mall on my bike. We'd ride bikes at the rundown skate park and get across noncannah creek to my house on the other side. There was no cable and video games didn't exist so we had to keep busy. My neighborhood is **** now though. Mom still owns the house but it's not safe so we rent it to nephews.

What a blast though. Biggest worry in the day was running into the kid you didn't want to run into, but that made it even more fun.
