I’d be lying if I said the dirty laundry being aired out publicly doesn’t concern me some.
Pera could just eventually say “**** it” and explores moving before the lease is up. Granted, a local group would be given an opportunity to match, but the franchise is creeping closer to $2 bil in value. A majority stake would then be close to if not over $1 bil for a local group. I’m not certain this city has enough interested, much less, wealthy enough investors to make a purchase.
Other cities don’t have a group of 5 school getting in the way of professional franchises like Memphis does. The U of M needs to get out of the way, or city leadership needs to step in and push them out of the way. I highly doubt that happens though. Nobody has a backbone.
