@gordonr24 you still working Redbirds? I assume not but here tonight.
I’m sorry.. is there an actual debate on where to allocate funds between FedEx forum and the Liberty bowl???
Unfortunately, there is.
Ignorant Memphis Tiger fans getting in the way of good things for the city. Last thing that needs to happen is pissing off the Grizzlies. They can always leave. The Tigers will always be in the city.
do the tigers not play IN FEDEX FORUM
The grizzlies leaving downtown might be the final nail in the coffin down there regardless of how much developers spend
I’ve been to UCF for AAC championship games. It’s a literal high school stadium. Aluminum and chainlink. You could pop open a bunch of cardboard boxes and erector set that bad boy in a few weeks for a couple mil.SMU, UCF, TCU, Cincinnati, and Houston all have stadiums in the 30-40k range. They all got into P5 conferences. No one cares if you play in a large dump near the ghetto. They care if you win and bring $$$ to the league...

UAB built a 41,000 seat stadium that cost $175MM. Why in the hell do we need to put more money into a crumbling dump?
Agreed. The Liberty bowl stinks but it’s not in the top 3 (5?) of Memphis not getting into P5Renovating the Liberty Bowl in hopes to get into a P5 conference argument is really dumb.
There are lots of dumps in P5 conference. Neyland is a dump. Just go to the bathrooms. Davis-Wade, Jordan-Hare, and Ben-Hill Griffin have poor amenities too.
It’s simple. You give the Grizzlies organization whatever they need in order for them to sign another 10-20 year lease.
Downtown is barely hanging by a thread. Losing the Grizzlies would be the nail in the coffin...
