Your paycheck is now worth 3.1 percent less than last year

You’ll never see me criticize military spending. It’s absolutely vital to invest, invest and invest again in them. My criticism is the stimulus, and lower interest rate by the Fed over the whole length of his term. Our currency is becoming less and less relatively valuable. At some point if we don’t address this we will turn into the next Venezuela, that’s probably why the Chinese unleashed the virus on us. They probably anticipated that we’d react with even more deficit spending. It’s not good. I don’t have it out for Trump either, I’d like to see him run with Rand Paul. That’s Probably a pipe dream
If you can't criticize bloated military spending then you aren't serious about cutting spending. It's stimulus for big MIC corps

There’s all sorts of things the country could do without aside from the military. Now if you wanted to criticize the stupid wasteful places we put our military then I would problem agree with you. But we must keep up with Chinese, It’s hard to say where their ambitions will end.

I work in the defense industry and make my livelyhood from it. And I’ll categorically state we spend too much on the military. It isn’t the money so much that pisses me off it’s the efficiency. It is an industry setup to overspend and over run and be late. It’s horribly run just like everything else the damn federal government touches.

The military can and should absolutely be cut. Take them to what is mandated

Also who is driving this belief that we need to keep up the spending our get taken over? Think it's those with something to sell?

So it sounds like more of a miss-allocation rather than spending too much in real terms. I don’t doubt what you are saying, sounds par for the course from our government

If we didn’t run it for **** we wouldn’t have to spend as much. $500 hammers make perfect sense to me when you watch the military procurement process “work” for 30 years.

I don’t doubt that profiteers exist and that there’s rampant miss use of funds. It might not be in our lifetimes but there will come a time when we will be thankful if we are still in possession of the most comprehensively powerful military. Why don’t we start by eliminating foreign and decadent social programs, there’s a million other things we could touch. I’d be all for pulling our troops out of the Middle East entirely, I’m sure that’d save a few pennies. How about we not spend an ungodly sum on those ridiculous stimulus programs, there’s just other places that should be addressed first

How about we just eliminate them all? We need to kill everyone's sacred cow

However I will say that money going to people is better than money going to military corporations

Wouldn’t mind killing about every damn cow but the military. Don’t think we’re gonna see eye to eye on this

You can't put enough emphasis on this point. EVERYTHING the government touches is horribly inefficient.

If the federal government ever starts taking your advice, you better start learning Mandarin.

Do you see how your priority which can never be touched, and someone else's priority of social programs which they feel can never be touched is part of the foundational problem when it comes to spending?

I watched it happen in private industry before I retired. We had a contract with MSC Industrial supply to provide us with the mundane things like tools and the like and they were good at it, if I ordered something by 8PM I got it before noon the next day. At some point in time purchasing got involved and declared a new provider of everyday and what would take one day to get suddenly took a week or longer and cost twice as much. More often than not when you finally got the stuff you ordered it came in an MSC box, because the new supplier ordered it from them and then shipped it to us. Since it was a corporate decision everyone just shrugged and said nothing we can do about it. The US is doomed.

The biggest issue with federal spending is how the crooked politicians define cutting spending. If spending on social programs increases from 2020 to 2021 by 3% but it increased from 2019 to 2020 by 5%, politicians call that a spending cut. NO. That is not a spending cut. That is a 3% increase in spending. They define spending cuts as increases that are smaller than previous annual increases. THAT is the foundational problem with government.

Want to be hated by everyone? Recommend 50% cut of actual spending across the board with no sacred cow left untouched. I did that a few years ago. Good times.
Gary Johnson ran on a 42% cut and we see how that went

That is an issue. The fuzzy accounting and squealing like a pig when a cut is proposed is corrupt.
But it isn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue is the actual spending.
