Your Recruiting Fix is on the way

I think he needs to look back a few months ago when we a lot of big name schools were staying away from him. We (even though it was lame) put an offer out there when nobody else would. That has to stand for something.

A lot of big name schools passed on Ambles. He wouldn't be even considered at USC if Kiffin did not take over.

Bagget cannot not hurt our chances with any WR Recruit. PT is a factor. QB situation is shaping up. TV 9 to 11 times a year. Facilities. What more could you ask for. More about the Athlete under CDD than the Coach (Kiffin). With a set of Quality Receivers on board or signing. Defenses cannot cover them all so you will get your share of passes thrown your way if you can cut it. There are a ton of positives for him to be a Vol. Fans is another. Closeness of Campus life. Close to home and a Coach and Staff that care. SEC to boot.

USC is on TV just as much as UT. I don't think it comes down to the factors that you indicate. JMO.

Sab, you may have stated this somewhere else but I'm lazy. What are your thoughts on possible NCAA sanctions and USC. How significant will they be in your opinion?

I am glad to see you back Sab, and glad to have someone explain why Crump and Sapp etc will be good additions if we end up needing to take them.

If we finished with
D Robinson
D Rogers
Ambles
J Stone
and C Smith I would be freaking ecstatic.

Thats a def. no go on Calvin Smith. To Da U.

The only significant thing would be a ban on post-season play for a year or period of years. I think we have seen with Alabama that probation doesn't scare off many when a program is winning.

I don't suppose to know what the NCAA will decide though.

Is UT out of danger with the NCAA?

Sab,

Whats the interest in Sapp? (sp)

Is he a fall back in a sense?

From my update:

Sapp is a product of football powerhouse Valdosta where it is difficult to be overlooked. Still, here we are right before signing day and he is rated a two star player by Rivals and committed to East Carolina. Illinois is his only other offer.

I cannot see him fitting into the Vols' future plans.

JMO.

Anybody know what USC's WR depth chart is? I know Williams left early, which leaves Johnson and Butler. But do they have any high rated recruits that didn't get to play last year? Just trying to get a feel for what they have vs. UT at the position.

We may not know for another 10 years as slow as they are. I don't think they would have ever done anything to USC but after the Bush lawsuit is made public, they will have no choice.

They have the top two WR's committed to them I believe? Not sure about who is already there.

You have to think that a lot of recruits are in a wait and see mode with USC and what the NCAA will do to them.

Also, dont underestimate how the fallout Kiffins sudden departure from UT will effect his future recruiting efforts. He was in the news talking up UT and how he was going to rebuild the program, only to leave like a thief in the night. His trustworthiness is very questionable with parents and recruits.

This is a fairly insightful read on the NCAA investigation at USC. It possibly explains why the process has taken so much time.

USC on probation? - CBSSports.com Message Boards

“The Trojans represent a must-get for the NCAA, a case that is so over-the-top, so well-publicized and so blatantly against the most obvious of rules that it can’t allow the Trojans to escape without losing all credibility and dealing with an avalanche of national criticism. Many in college athletics wonder that if the NCAA can’t get USC, what’s the point of the operation?”

“In this situation, the delay actually was a sign of serious intent. It’s trying to deliver a thorough case to a jury that knows college sports’ credibility is on the line.”
