They didn't seem to push anyone that hard to commit. All of the articles I read say that there was no pressure. I don't know whether that's good or bad, but I'm in Sales and I'm a closer. Closing is an important part of the process and it doesn't have to involve pressure, but you have to ask for the commitment. You have to let the recruit know that he's wanted and you want his commitment. They didn't do that from what I saw. Maybe it's a different situation with some of these guys. You really have to make sure you build up trust and a relationship before you hard close. I hope that's why. And that's another reason it's so difficult on these coaches to pull out a great recruiting class with so little time. The recruiting process has steps you should follow and these steps are spread out over a long period of time. The coaches are having to condense their pitch into a few weeks and that makes it tough to win vs. these schools that have been in on these guys for 2 years.

Z is a can't miss prospect with his size and athletic ability. We need a guy like him in this class. I think the coaches want him as much as any other prospect. I just hope Ole Miss isn't too much to overcome.

Efff Ole Piss!!! I'm as jacked about this guy's potential as anyone's...hope he is ours.

latest rumblings on VQ---5-6 of his friends from CPA are going to UT in the fall which is affecting him, and despite his relationships with the Ole Miss staffers, he recognizes that the UT staff is more likely to get him to the next level.

not sure how credible the poster is, because it's not a name I'm familiar with. that's the day's rumor FWIW.

I think more recruits will start to think like this in the future.

Rivals never showed him with an offer until recently so it is pretty obvious that he has been evaluated by this coaching staff and offered. They brought him in for a visit. If for some reason they don't offer him at this point, it would be a ridiculous misstep by the coaching staff. It's not like we have any other TE's coming in this class that he is going to have to compete with. Orson Charles is as long of a long shot as you can be at this point. They can't be depending on his commitment.

Not a necessary guy, but he is very talented and would've help Kiff's lock up the state campaign.

Huge miss by the coaches here. No other way to dice it. I guess time was in Ole Miss' favor, but they absolutely, positively HAVE to start locking down these in-state guys from now on. If they leave the state, they better be leaving the league as well. We can't hand players to other SEC teams. Ole Miss has a big enough base to pull from.

2nd player this week we've lost to Ole Miss too. That sucks. I friggin' hate them.

Agree, even though we have a chance with Charles we could have had Z, period. I find it hard to pass up a sure thing for just a chance. Obviously I'm on the outside looking in.

Zaccheus Mason picks Mississippi over Vols | www.tennessean.com | The Tennessean

“I liked UT,” Mason said. “I always wanted to go there, and the majority of my family grew up liking UT. But when I went to Ole Miss, that’s where I felt more comfortable with the whole coaching staff. They were all about being a family and I wanted to be a part of that."

Im starting to think this might be a recurring theme as to the reasoning behind why a few recruits dont pick us....not a good sign unfortunately. But lets keep the faith!
