Zach Azzanni new WR Coach

You took one post (out of about 50) out of context and twisted it. What I said was I think going from the WR coach at Florida to the OC at Western Kentucky is a push. Azzanni actually made more money as a wr coach at Florida then he did as a OC at WKU where he made less then 80k. IF you don't agree that it's a push then your saying Azzanni's move to Wisconsin wasn't even a lateral move but a step down. He was only the OC at WKU for one year. Regardless of all that my biggest reservation with Azzanni is that I do not think he is a dynamic recruiter like we needed.

Here is the way his history played out to me......he didn't leave Florida voluntarily......he left bc his coach quit football.......he stated in interviews he was hesitant to go to western Kentucky but he and his wife discussed it and decided being offensive coordinator and learning a new system would be good for his career.....he apparently decided he wanted to go back to a big time program after a successful one yr at western Kentucky.

Very Bielema has been slow playing all his former assistants and just hired his first one Chris Ash...Butch has a history with Azzanni and feels he is a good recruiter and coach so he brought him to Tennessee.

If you trust your coach, it was a good hire and if you don't then it was a.bad hire.....I personally love the hire.

here is what rivals(top 25 recruiters) said about tee when he was at kenSUCKY:

Tee Martin, Kentucky
Buzz: Recruiting at Kentucky for his first year, Martin killed it for the Wildcats landing four-star defensive back Glenn Faulkner from Illinois as well as a ton of three stars. He also landed Eric Dixon and Rashad Cunningham from South Alabama, where he is from, and helped sway wide receiver Daryl Collins from Alabama on signing day. He was also the primary recruiter for Demarco Robinson, Nile Daniel and Theltus Cobbins, and has already earned a promotion in title and a contract extension for his efforts. Not a bad first year.

doing that at kentucky isnt a bad job and tee is a coach on the rise. not an opinion. fact

I AGREE with you. I think Tee was the closest thing we could get to a "homerun" hire. My point was there is no perfect candidate for any job. Tee's weakness on paper is that he has only been coaching for a few years. It's too early to point to his resume as proof he is a great coach. By most accounts, and in my opinion, he is a talented, on the rise coach and recruiter.

The other point I was making in my post was that you can't judge a coach's recruiting ability based on what you can find out on Rivals. These coaches are building relationships with dozens of kids and programs every year. Rivals might list 4 or 5 kids a coach was "in on" every year at best. Most years they don't list ANY names for a given coach, even recruiting coordinators. DL saying Azzanni is a horrible recruiter based on this is, in my opinion, short sighted at best.

The impression I get based on what I CAN find online, in interviews, and from personal recollection from living in Florida is that he has been a hardworking and talented recruiter. As with ANY coaching hire, only time will tell if he works out at this job.

Looks to be great hire just hate he's not coming till after the bowl game.

At least he didn't pull a Tubberville...in which case some degree of respect would be lost on him.

IMHO I think he's a good hire. Yes, on paper and history he may be questionable but most of it was beyond his control and circumstances. Could end up being a solid coach given the right school, staff, coach and players to work with.

Not necessarily true considering I actually like all his other hires save for Jancek at DC.

How do you know that? You don't know me or how I spend my time. I probably know alot more about football and coach Azzanni then you think I do. A message board in part is where people give their opinions. If you don't like it move to North Korea.

Here we go.......

Why don't you like Jancek......seems like he was a big part of a pretty good staff at cincinnati.....I really don't know if any of the guys Jones brought in are all-stars.

I do know that none of our fans do either......they hated Hinshaw being brought in and now he is an invaluable member of our staff.....they wanted Chaney fired last yr and this yr they hate losing him...I trust Jones to make the right decisions.....it's his job on the line.

We just had a kid tweet about coach Z and is fired up about a visit.
And he was just hired.

Tell us again that we need to heed the advice of those here saying he can't recruit, versus what his peers, bosses, players, nd recruits say.

Like I have said, save the whining for when its time to whine. Complaining based off of bad info is weak.

Good hire and agree with you completely on how people tend to jump the gun and stay negative on things like this.

Butch has said twice now that azzAnni had multiple sec offers which is safe to assume arky was one. There goes mr know it all Dunlaps theory of beliema not wanting the WR coach. I always love the posters that pretend to know everything

I asked this earlier and never saw a response, can this coach perform any duties for TN while he's still working at Wisconsin? Phone calls for recruiting?
