Student suspended for sexual harassment after hugging teacher - CNN.com
Not sure if this was a zero tolerance issue, but no hugging your teacher in Georgia.

Sounds to me like the school district etc are trying to cover their butts, but we'll see when the reach court.
This guy doesn't like the situation:

Thats why I always hesitate to jump to a conclusion after reading or seeing ANYTHING our news puts out. Facts may be skewed and there is no reprimand. Usually the accused CANNOT comment until after the proceedings and sometimes never. I never believe attorneys...never.Erin Cox Owes North Andover an Apology Valley Patriot Editorial (Nov. 2013) | The Valley Patriot
Sounds like there are two sides to a story after all.

I'd like to see the documents these folks are talking about. They put up the email from the police officer, but not the official court documents that were obtained legally.
Also, this site has been the complete opposite in the case since day one. I haven't seen them put up anything nice to say about the alleged victims in this case.
The real story here is that the national media reported on a story without picking up the phone and verifying ONE fact that they were reporting. I agree with those who say she is just a teen age kid who lied, like most kids lie when they get in trouble, but if she and her family had not recruited the national media to TELL their lie it wouldnt be a story at all.
The author's contention is:
He says that the attorney put out a fake story to the media that the media ran with without first checking any facts. And that the school district's hands were largely tied in responding b/c of potential legal troubles.
Seems legit.
Again though, two sides. While the national level media was having a heyday with the zero tolerance stuff, this local outlet was basically picking sides as well.
But again, what I'd like to see are the court documents that the girl supposedly signed saying she was drinking. And furthermore, how can a local newspaper report that an underage person is enrolling in a substance abuse program? I could be wrong, but I think that violates some sort of privacy laws.

Although Ethan explained the bullying situation, he says that administrators ignored his side of the story. The teen was taken to the principals office and News 12 notes that, he was suspended, pending the outcome of a psychological evaluation.
The 20-year-old history major has spent the past few months sparring with Yales health center over her low weight. Chan is 52 and 92 lbs., and Yale doctors were concerned her health was severely at risk.
She contended that shes always been very thin, as were her parents and grandparents at her age.
Yet until Friday, Yale had been telling Chan she might be forced to leave school if she didnt put on some pounds.
Related although not zero tolerance:
Yale student , 92 lbs., stuffed her face with Cheetos, ice cream to pacify school officials
And people think I'm crazy for saying it's a good thing to legislate common sense.
