He did a good job last night, but he recruited none of the players on Mizzou's roster and he's only been a DC there for 6 months. Most of Mizzou's defensive players were recruited and developed by Barry Odom and Ryan Walters; and we know Odom is an elite DC.

Everyone just needs to let Banks get some players....this is only the second year and we have had massive scholarship issues...

....that being said, Banks needs to have the Mizzou defensive play calling on repeat all week and scheme accordingly....

Not sure if this is a UGA funk (once is an incidence, twice is a coincidence....three times would be a trend)....but they have looked beatable the past 2 weeks.

I expect Alabama to go back to #1 and UGA to fall to #2 this week in the polls.

I'm not sure exactly what names we should be considering, but CJH needs to seriously upgrade our defensive coaching staff if we are ever to make the jump to the next level. Definitely our DC and our DB coach need to be replaced. Plus, we must upgrade the level of defensive players we are signing. We're recruiting a better group, but we're not sealing the deal on enough highly ranked players on D.

Last year, ZERO depth. This year more depth, but no experience yet. If we don't improve by the end of the year and start off year three looking the same with the talent coming in, then maybe look elsewhere.

We can't defend the pass, at all right now. Don't know if you know this, but Anthony Richardson had a better day passing than Hendon Hooker. Glad you are confident in Banks. I'd love to have John Jancek over Banks anyday. Especially with the offense we have now.

Banks is terrible. What is happening on defense is the exact opposite of what’s happening on offense. Do we really think UT recruited #1 in the nation offensive talent over the last few years? Hell no. Yet, that is exactly what we have. One of the criticisms of Heupel is that he is disconnected regarding anything on the defensive side. He had this same problem at UCF. Offense was prolific and the defense got worse every year he was there. Word was that Randy Shannon was hired by White with little to no input from Heupel.

Our defensive staff is comprised of journeymen and the only one close to a guru is Garner. Martinez is hot garbage and Banks doesn’t understand scheme at all. We’ve seen great coaches over achieve with less talent than UT is putting on the field.

I agree. However, it’s his job to find the players and with NIL and transfer portal there’s no excuse for not having players by year 3 at a place like Tennessee. This is an important class for him, imo.

Martinez may not be the best we could do but he’s certainly not “hot garbage” you don’t stay in the SEC long if you suck. He’s stood the test of time in this league. Honestly I’m surprised how quickly many have forgotten how he helped Taylor and Jackson elevate their game last season... Theo went from having no future in the NFL to being arguably our best player. That doesn’t happen if your coach is “hot garbage”. Some of y’all need to pump the breaks

For the 100th time, Tennessee self imposed limitations on scholarships that limited their activity in the transfer portal the last 2 years. What part of that fact can’t you people understand? UT has “invested” heavily in defense in this yrs signing class. If defensive problems are here in 2024, you might see a change. Considering the “shitshow” when Banks was hired, Tennessee was fortunate to get him.
