Maurer doubtful for Saturday

If all we're going to do is run the ball, I'd almost rather have JG in there. .

Not me. I'd rather he NOT be in there when inevitably we'll need to throw the ball.

No way.

I know. I corrected him in a thread about JG yesterday. Since I used facts he vanished. He then found a joke a made about JG's degree being in psychology and started in on me with his insult barrage. It's his MO to pick fights and insult everyone. I didn't know until I read his post history. Now I just feel sorry for him.

He's a waste of space.

JG starts. South Carolina jumps all over Tennessee. Garbage time for JT in the late 3rd and all of 4th.

JG gets the nod again (WHY GOD WHY). Team somehow hangs on and scrapes past UAB. Maurer comes back after the UAB game and goes on a 3 game win streak to secure a bowl bid.
No, no, no...you have it all wrong. JG starts and "manages" the game pretty well. We get into the red zone 5 times, and get one TD and 4 field goals. South Caroline is up 23 to 19 with 2 minutes left. We drive to mid field. With time running out JG drops back and somehow with trips right, we get a wide open receiver behind the defense running down the left sideline. JG sees him late throws it up and receiver has to come out of the end zone to catch the ball. He is tackled just short of the goal line. Time expires. Good ole JG...Oh wait, he did that 2 years ago..right?

Yeah. He hates being made to look 🤪. He won’t even respond to me anymore but doesn’t stop me from posting something for everyone else to read in response to his questionable knowledge of Maurer. Hell...... he’s even went as far as to make things up to criticize him.

If all we're going to do is run the ball, I'd almost rather have JG in there. He made a Top 3 all time worst play in Tennessee history mistake last week but he did have some decent drives against a very good defense. If said mistake doesn't happen and he gets us in the end zone we're not even having this conversation.
How many times has he done something similar in a critical situation? I remember all the times he just missed winning! He gets a yard or 2 less than we need to score almost every single time in a game deciding situation.

Yeah, I forgot we were talking about JG. Discrediting everything he does seems to be popular by a certain type of people around here.

Lol Looks like someone's feelings are hurt when folks don't agree with your version of the stats. It's a message board with varying opinions. Just because someone doesn't hold the same opinion as you doesn't mean they discredit JG and his accomplishments. And your over reaction to the harmless Trump gif explains alot.

From the article I read this morning this is actually standard for UTs concussion procedure. Better to be too safe than not safe enough.

Fair enough, just seems inefficient to send all our concussion protocols to Nashville for treatment.

I agree but from what I understand Vanderbilt and UT are partnered up for concussion procedures.

They have cat scans in Knoxville. Visiting Vandy has me nervous that there is something more here. No facts, just worry on why has to go to Nashville.
They're getting a second well respected opinion. After getting knocked out of two games in a row, bringing him back next weekend...let alone this weekend...even if he clears protocol by team doctors will bring some scrutiny. Let's say they pulled him against Alabama out of an abundance of caution and he has actually cleared protocol for this weekend. You'd still get killed in the media. But if you can say you went above and beyond to get a second opinion and they also cleared him...that kills the potential negative press. The other thing that could be going on is that they want him to see a specialist to figure out why he has gotten concussions from relatively minor hits to the head. The one against MSU should've been more of a neck issue and the last one he got his head snapped forward more so than taking a knee to the back of the head.

Just my thoughts.

I seriously think we can push the dline off the ball enough to allow a decent run game. We will HAVE to hit a few down field throws or they are going to stack the box and its game over. They may stack it anyway and make our QB beat them throwing the ball downfield. Either way i cant call this game one way or another at this point
Our OL actually pushed Bama's DL around on several plays. They have progressed quite nicely.

You like many others should give the pregame speech Sat. Jennings would love for you to say he's been working hard all for nothing, he'll probably drop balls on purpose just to make you happy.

He won't have to because JG will just throw it way over his head.... again. And again. And again.

I'm not sure other players who've had concussions this year have been to Vandy. Someone may know, but if it's normal protocol wouldn't we have seen it before with others?

I'm not sure it isn't, but I've not seen it before.

We are going to lose with JG starting. The dude has choked away the last two games against SC

Not impossible to win with him, but much, much harder. Defense will have to play lights out and our O line will need to get excellent push to open up the run game. If JG starts, it isn't impossible he'll have another Auburn or Kentucky type of game.... but it is unlikely he will based on his entire body of work.

Doesn't explain anything really, you speculate much like everyone else. He did the discrediting in the previous reply. Keep up if you are going to butt in with really nothing of value.

It’s possible they may have went as well. The only one I remember off the top of my head was the o lineman (name slips my mind) but it’s possible we didn’t hear anything about it because it’s not as “high profile” of a position and qb is the only position that has only 1 player playing it. The loss of a qb normally spells disaster where at any other position it’s a “next man up” mentality. Jmo
