Pat Forde SI article

I rarely think Pat Forde gives Tennessee a fair shake, but he hit the nail on the head here.

It's harsh, but it's true. I took my orange glasses off for a minute to read it.

Tennessee Was Destined for a Hire Like Josh Heupel

I think it was fair.

I think Heupel has plenty to prove, but he should have plenty of money for assistants. So, at least we have some reasons for hope.

the violations didnt implicate him directly. Thats why hes still a college coach. If youre problem is with escorts, than just be glad you dont actually goes on in the real world

FIFY

The violations didn't implicate him directly. That's why he's still a college coach. If your problem is with escorts, than just be glad you don't know what actually goes on in the real world.

(and Freeze was directly implicated)

Had to get away from the ex-football coach AD model. It clearly wasn't working.
Maybe. Fulmer could of made this type of hire on his way out the door though. The article is right in the fact they've absolutely ran the program into the dirt. Sad really.

See, this is why you'll never be a Mrs. Rivervol.

Start speaking in full sentences, try to make sense, act pleasantly, and a little lipstick wouldn't hurt either, Ms. Rivervol.

MS is an abbreviation for Mississippi, but I understand you not knowing that. It would be hard to know that between all the SJW papers you probably write that nobody reads

This Forde article is pretty fair too.

Tennessee's Yield to Its Fans Comes to Embarrassing End

Tennessee's Yield to Its 2017 Fan Revolt Comes to Embarrassing, Predictable Conclusion
Three years ago, Vols fans were thrilled they had thwarted plans to hire Greg Schiano and landed a 'Tennessee man' at AD. Boy, has that backfired.

Flush with revolutionary fervor, Tennessee fans were very busy congratulating themselves on Dec. 1, 2017.

On that day, former hero football coach Phillip Fulmer had been installed as athletic director after backstabbing John Currie out of the job. In the days leading up to that event, Volunteers fans incited by a barking media personality with a fanboy interest in the program had gone full vigilante to undercut Currie’s attempted hire of former (and future) Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. What ensued was a clown show that left Tennessee as the laughingstock of college athletics, but UT backers believed they had triumphed by putting administrative know-nothing Fulmer in charge of a search that eventually settled on the unproven Jeremy Pruitt.

---
Good job, Vols. Good effort. You got your program back—whatever that means—and it’s a bigger dumpster fire than ever. You’ve surpassed even Auburn as the Dysfunction Capital of the Southeastern Conference. Maybe leave the radio guy’s opinions out of the coaching search this time. Maybe get an athletic director who knows how to do the job, instead of a comfort hire whose only qualification was being a beloved former coach.

Harsh. But fair.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The records of frost and huepel without that quarterback, Milton, was pretty interesting. Frost struggled without him, but that was probably because he was building the program during that time.

Ma'am, I don't care what state you live in. Even those inbreds will pass on a shrew of a gal like you.

Clean up the language, take the rollers out of your hair, run a vacuum over the trailer, pull back the Rebel flag you use as curtains to let a little light in, and change out of your bathrobe. You'll see, in no time at all you'll find a fella to come a courtin' with a big bouquet of dandelions and a box of Marlboro reds under his arm. You'll be Mrs. Rivervol in no time!

meh, Forde is cherry picking data. To include the SEC records for the past 13 years to show that UT is currently far behind SC (which had Spurrier for many of those years) and Mizzou (which made it to Atlanta twice about ten years ago) is disingenuous and ignores that we have 2 game winning streaks over both.

The average fan pays the price for Schiano Sunday. However, I believe our efforts were paltry compared to the state legislature that demanded the hire be nixed. The national media loves to dis the state and our citizens. Remember Fowler’s trailer park comments? We still never wear shoes and drive on dirt roads. When we were winning it was because we live in the south and have nothing better to do but follow football.

Now to circle back to Schiano for a moment. Had he been hired we would have been searching for a coach now anyways. The only difference being the NCAA issues. So in that regard maybe we would have been better off.

I hope Heupel wins and is successful because I am tired of being the punching bag of the national media.

WAKE UP!! We are not who we used to be, and its going to stay that way until by some miracle we start winning and look good doing it! It's like dealing with the guy who was captain if the football team in high school, now 35 years later 50lbs heavier and half his hair gone still believing he's the sh#t!!

You mean better quarterbacks make the program better? Are you a witch? 🤔
