Redemption for Jalen Hurd

Has anybody ever confirmed that Hurd quit in the middle of any game, or is that just a Volnation rumor? Honest question. Please link to an article or cite a specific post from an insider if there's any evidence, direct or circumstantial, that Hurd ever quit in the middle of a game.

He never said the middle of a game. He said the middle of the season, the middle of games. Like after a regular season game and before the next regular season game. Like messing up the season and hurting the chance for the team to win regular season games that have significants. If he quite in the summer or if he quite in the spring the impact would have been way less.

The last I heard, he hadn't signed with an agent and hadn't requested a release to go to any particular destination. I know that some will roast me for this but it's cool. A group of friends were discussing where he might possibly go in the upcoming draft (if at all) and this thought came to me. The best possible situation for him at this point is to go to CBJ and the team and apologize, and beg to be given another chance. He needs to explain that he let some people get in his head and that he made a huge mistake. He also needs to let it be known that he will do whatever it takes to earn the trust of his teammates and coaches, as well as show a willingness to do whatever he can for the benefit of the TEAM. If he came back for his senior year and played inspired, unselfish football, splitting carries as John Kelly's back up, he could redeem himself in the eyes of his team, most of Volnation, and NFL GM's. He would also still become UT's career rushing leader. Flame away.

Jalen, is that you?

Yaaaaaa.... After you say FU&@ You to the head coach in the middle of the Georgia game an then sits out of Texas A&M because the coaching staff told you to. That will never happen not should it ever happen... You quite on your team and me as a coach wouldn't let him back until he shows me he has changed and that would be one very short leash.

You could question whether he refused to go into the Ga game but it's pretty common knowledge he refused to go back in the South Carolina game. That's quitting in the middle of the game in my opinion.

Forgiveness is one thing.
Being wise about manageing the esprit de corp of a team is another.

He blew up this teams chances of getting to the top of the SECe in the middle of a game.

No one should want him back.
The team has moved on.
Forget him.
He's soft.

At this point if I were him I would enroll in a junior college and then show up in Tuscaloosa for a season like Aaron Douglas did. If he were to graduate from UT could he not be a senior transfer and go to any school he would want to go to?

The reason I say Bama is that he would have a decent offensive line to run behind and he might possibly get a blocking back to run behind.

I have a bridge in the desert you can buy.

Has not been confirmed but CFA coming in during the SC game is pretty telling about all that IMO

This is perfectly accurate IMO.

Will NOT happen. First, I would say his pride would get in the way. Imagine him approaching bUTch and pouring out his soul and bUTch says "NO" This will become public knowledge and his reputation will be further ruined.
Also, let's imagine that this scenario does happen and Hurd gets back on the team. What if bUTch benches him and he becomes the 3rd or 4th sting tailback? It is not beyond a coach to seek revenge on a player.
Hurd would be better to declare for the NFL now and at the worse case scenario, become a free agent and work his way up just like Foster did and just like James Harrison does.

3.7 is horrifically bad. Especially when the other running backs on the team, all of which were behind him on the depth chart, averaged a combined 6.1 yards per carry with approximately 200 carries.

True. I'm no JH fan after what he did mid-game and mid-season, and (if true) his attitude that alienated him from the team.

But, stats do not perfectly tell the story. My eyes tell me that Hurd ran into a lot of impossible plays during the difficult part of the schedule. Had he kept his head and finished properly with UGA, ATM, USC and the weaker teams, then his average would have been much better. Also, had our other backs had his reps in the early part of the schedule, then their averages would have been less. All conjecture of course.

If they guy had no nuked the "character / teamwork" portion of his NFL job resume', then he would have been drafted at least mid rounds I'm thinking. Now, if he has his head screwed on straight, he'll take his UFA opportunity, submit 100%, focus 100%, and work 100%. If he does, some team is going to get an Arian Foster style steal next season. Hurd's bad decision means he'll be working for peanuts for a couple years before getting serious $$$.

Am I the only one not forgetting that they already tried that approach after the Ta&m game.....went before team...apologized...team vote....etc? Then it turned around and bit them in the rear end at South Carolina.

No thanks, I'll pass.

Yep, if there is one thing CBJ does well it seems to be stuff like this. Id say once it came to JH leaving, that he had been given more than enough chances.

This is just a pipe dream OP. I can't think of a single a time a player has quit a team in the way Jalen did according to the reports, then rejoin the team.
