Why did the cops ask Vol fan to sit down last night?

I've never asked anyone to sit down. I've never told anyone to stop getting loud for their team. I have been asked to sit down, and usually will as long as the ones in front of me are seated first. I don't like it when I'm seated, and then others stand in front of me, and I miss the catch. I like to stand, get loud, stomp my feet, and try to disrupt the opposing teams offense, causing them to burn a timeout, or false start. Fan interaction does help the team. Our defense feeds off it, and can impact the the other team. GO VOLS!

lol.....just now saw this. I was the one standing up...and F that guy. never saw him in K before. Cops and usher both agreed with me, usher even apologized...

Also that guy was none too polite... and it was a big defensive series.

Holt I'm still in K same spot, cya this season! And 3rd down on defense, I will be up every time as will those around me most of the time! We're cheering and trying to make noise for our Vols!

if you have a problem with people standing up on defensive stands especially, this stuff is televised, you can be sure no rowdy vol fans will stand up in front of you at home.
good luck, Holt...better stand Fury's a big ole boy,

Can't believe this thread won't die. As for me, I get it - the rules are, you can stand the whole time. You can also fart in a crowded elevator all you want. You have that right, and nobody should take that away from you.

I too stand at games. I stand when - it's a big play about to happen, touchdown, team enters field, fight over in section K, Spurrier throws visor, cheerleader wardrobe malfunction.

I also stand when the guy in front of me stands. Which means the people behind me all the way to the top have to stand.

OK, so some common sense and consideration should prevail. By my standards, and flame me if you want, I don't care.. when tall guy and his buddy are standing during the "Play under review" thing, and we are trying to see the jumbotron - at that point, there is no reason to be standing just for the hell of standing. Not everyone is 30 in the stadium. Lots of folks got to Knoxville hours before kickoff, stood for the VOL walk, parked downtown - walked miles and miles.

Stand if you must, but don't be surprised if someone asks you to please sit down for a while. I've done it.

I like to stand during the game. I do not stand the whole game, but I do not sit a lot while their is game action. I actually stand sometimes while watching games at home.

Honestly, I don't even sit down at home. I pace, I'm a mess. I sit more at games. If you're able, at least get your ass up on 3rd down if you're in the General's House.

When I'm at home, my daughters wonder why I yell at the tv. They say, "daddy, they can't hear you". At the game though, they are screaming just as much, if not more than I am.

....and yes....our family stands most of the game.

I'm a rocker at home. I rock back and forth like Leo Mazzone.

I've only experienced this with vandy fans. I had the people behind me ask me to sit down with 3 mins left in the second half of the basketball game at memorial gym this past year (we won in ot) in a very rude manner. They where obviously upset because our whole group was Tennessee fans but we did nothing to bother them just cheered for our team. I have a tendency to stand in crucial times of the game anyway, although I do agree there is a time and a place. Needless to say we stood for the last 3 mins and all of ot. Moral of the story if you want the jerk in front of you to not be a jerk and sit down then don't be a jerk when you ask him to sit down.

True story - Last year during the Vol/SC game - My buddy's dog had to take a leak. She'd been holding it for a LONG...TIME. It was late in the game, down 2 Tds with 2 min left. She couldn't wait anymore, so he took her outside.

Vols score. I yell outside to him. He's pleased, but let's be honest...it wasn't likely that we get another score in with that little time. Well then...the VOLS SCORE AGAIN!!! I yell at him....WE TIED IT UP!! WE TIED IT UP!! He starts going NUTS!!!

I did 3 laps around the outside of the house.

He then REFUSED to come back in until the game was over. After the FG, that first sack in OT, I yelled at him - SACK!!! Then the second sack. Then the missed FG. Good times.

Anyway, I stand far more at home than I do at games.

Yeah we haven't had any problems so far this season that I know of between the sitters and standers. I think the football fans should be at liberty to stand or sit whichever they choose.

A cop can write you a ticket for disobeying his order. If he tells you to sit and you refuse, have fun showing up to court and paying that fine + court costs

You are so incorrect here it's not even funny. You have to actually be breaking a law for them to have any right to tell you to stop and especially to write you a citation. You do not have to listen to them just because they are cops.

When I'm at home I am up the whole time. Typically about 3 feet from the tv. I kind of rock at times depending on the game.

I remember dreading getting student tickets near the DMZ with "the normals". Surefire way to get an usher called over, and that could really interrupt your cocktail hour. I remember someone made shirts that said IF YOU CAN'T SEE, STAND UP on the back. Not popular with most season ticket holders.

The Arky game was nothing like the OU game from a "standing" standpoint. 90% of OUs plays were standers by everyone in my section. While the Arky game was about 90% sitting and 10% standing at certain times.

If you don't need to stand up to see, then shown some decency and concern for those behind you and politely be seated. Show respect for others. One day you'll be glad you did.

Sucks for me I guess because I got a disobeying a lawful order and I wasn't breaking any laws. I fought it in court and "won", If you considering spending a few hours at the courthouse and ponying up $150 winning. There is a thread in the Pub that you can read about KPD beating up & arresting a young adult for no reason. In the mean time have fun playing Edward Snowden with the Rhodes Scholars known as KPD. You can also google it and read hundreds of pages of people receiving this bogus ticket

Dumbest thread of all time! Freaking cry babies! Stand if u want, sit if u want. U paid for the ticket to be there.
Getting a cop involved is ridiculous! I'm sorry but because someone can't see a football game is not a reason to get the police involved, and seriously some of u actually believe that a cop can tell u anything and u have to do it? Sorry, but that's wrong! Are u breaking a law by standing at a football game? No. Then that cop can't tell you to sit just because someone can't see and doesn't like that u are standing.
People are ridiculous.
Would it have been courteous of him to sit for a little bit? Yes, but like I said, he paid for that seat and can choose to sit in it or stand in front of it.
People will complain about anything and everything. Get over it and just live ur life people.

At Neyland, you don't deal with USHERS, you deal with the KPD. The guy is lucky he wasn't escorted out of the game and put in their POS pattywagon for a trip to jail. I hate going to games in my own stadium...paranoid to say the least after the way me and 2 other alums were treated 2 years ago. They don't give a fah q, they don't think before they act. They are just SALIVATING at the thought to throw you out or in jail for the night. Im treated better at away games/stadiums, totally pathetic.

I heard on the radio KPD arrested 150 people during the OK game. I don't think that many people get arrested at Eagles games. But yea have fun fighting for your rights
