Valdosta, GA- Recruiting can be interesting. Some recruits already have more offers than they can count and some are still patiently waiting on number one. At a young age it’s tough to stay patient, but Malcolm Mitchell has not had to be too patient. He may not hold the most offers, but the few that he has are from some major powers. Currently holding 7 offers, the 6’1″ 180 pound defensive prospect has heard from most of the schools he’d like to already.
“I’ve got 7 offers. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, and LSU. I’m all about the SEC, I’m going to be an SEC player, so those are most of the schools I’m interested in. I don’t have any favorites or top group right now. But I’d have to say that Bama and Florida are probably recruiting me the hardest. And Georgia is coming pretty hard too.”
Although the offer list might be a bit short, it certainly does not lack star power. Malcolm is a very heavily recruited individual and one that Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and others would love to add to their 2011 class. But he’s in no hurry.
“I’m just taking it all in right now. I’m on spring break right now and will be headed to Florida. I have already been to Florida and Alabama for unofficials so far. I’m not doing anything right now except football workouts. We looking good to, I’m looking the best I ever have so far. It’s going to be a big year for us.”
Some schools are recruiting him as a safety and some as a corner. Malcolm has no preference and just wants to play football.
“I’m pretty fast, but I’m just working on getting faster right now. I’m looking at the type of environment, the academics, and how the players and coaches interact at each school. At Alabama, I liked everything, the community, the school, facilities. Just everything. Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt is recruiting me and he is a great guy.”
While Tennessee has extended the standout an offer, Malcolm mentioned he has not heard too much from the program.
“I have a little bit of interest right now in Tennessee. I’m still working on learning more about them, they offered me but I haven’t heard much else from them. As I mentioned before I’m just taking it all in, and I’m still open at this time.”
