Charlotte, NC.- About this time every year some names start popping up in the recruiting world that few are familiar with. It’s a time for some players who have had a great spring to be rewarded with some college offers. Zebulon B. Vance high star athlete Calvin Hunter is getting his opportunity now. After a recent camp at Tennessee, he may soon be ready to double his offer total and more. Currently South Carolina is the only offer in hand but a few more could be pretty close.

“I went down to a Tennessee camp. The coaches talked to me and said they see some big things. It’s not that far from home and coach Terry Joseph told me I could play there early if I came through. Right now I have an offer from South Carolina as a defensive back. Clemson and some others are looking at me for an athlete. North Carolina state, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech are a few others showing some strong interest. I’m getting mail from a lot of schools right now. Tennessee said they want to see my junior film before they offer, make sure it wasn’t just a really good day or something.”

While South Carolina is the only offer, that doesn’t keep Tennessee from grabbing his early attention.

“South Carolina and Tennesse are my top two. I like the staff at South Carolina. It’s only an hour away from home. I was there for a camp and they gave me lots of 1 on 1 time. I would also like to hear more from Kentucky though, I have some family up there. My coach knows one of the coaches up there really well, and he said he would take his word about my ability. But I’m in no hurry to decide anytime soon. I’m going to wait it out and see what happens.”

Currently Hunter plays both ways at Zebulon, and he is continuing to work on his game. Currently he wants to become more physical and develop his tackling a little better.

Hunter measured in at 5’10” 175 pounds and ran a laser timed 4.47 and 4.43 40 yard dash time at Tennessee.
