I've changed my mind about

Shoot me an email and I'll see what I can do to help. I can shoot them a message to remind them but if they aren't going to pay they aren't going to pay.

Eh it's no biggie really, not anything you should have to get involved in. 1 guy paid up which is 1 more than I thought would, not surprisingly he was a mod, good hire.

It really pains you to give Martin any sort of credit doesn't it?

No. I am extremely happy for him. I've been in his corner until this year. I've lost about any confidence he'll succeed here but that doesn't mean I hope he fails. I gave him props at the end of the season and made post to that effect. While I had optimism it was extremely guarded because we didn't beat anybody. Cuonzo won't be here more than a couple more years max because he doesn't like it here IMO. Have you ever been in a job that you didn't like? If so did you perform at your best? If your heart's not into something your not going to perform at your best. Cuonzo has done the minimum necessary to keep his job here and IMO that's not enough.

I bet $100 to anyone who wanted that we would make the NCAAT months ago, a few posters accepted....only 1 paid up.

Weak. Sorry bro. At least you got one of them to keep their word.
I definitely thought we would make the tourney, and honestly like 4-5 seed at the least. Not first four in and an eleven seed.
I think we will tomorrow if we we pound the ball to Stokes and Maymon, and have a decent 3 point night on the kick outs. But we must kill them down low, they have nobody near as strong and built like those two. They have length, but that's why we need to use Stokes like a boss. I fully expect us to come out competing and mentally strong from the go. They'll be ready, but I still think it'll be a close game. No more than 7 point win after shooting FTs late after fouls, for either team

That's where you're wrong.

They could've lost last night, and he would be back. Hell, they could've lost to South Carolina in the SECT knocking them to the NIT and he would still likely be back.

Right now he's earning himself money and years, bonus, raise and extension are all coming.

You may be right from the AD's perspective but from most fans perspective this has been an underachieving, less than spectacular, middle of the pack year. There is no way this should have been a bubble team or a play-in game year.

Edit: Also, how can you not classify it as minimum? If he'd lost one more game he'd likely missed the tournament and likely would be gone.

And, we're earning a few years of mediocrity based upon a few weeks of beating up on some really poor or badly faltering teams. Hopefully, the SEC will continue to be subpar to inflate our record because we are headed for some pretty blah years ahead of us.

How many NCAAT wins does Tennessee have in the history of it's program?

I don't know about all that.

I don't know it for a fact, but going off what most who had talked with the AD were saying Martin was pretty likely back after the Missouri win.

I don't mean that part, I'm talking about the extension, bonus, raise part.

I should have put the word "yet" in my post. Get past a team or two, then I'm with you.

If only Don DeVoe got to play a team that just lost 5 of 6 games and was beaten by Northwestern in their last game. Hell, contract for life to Martin for winning the play in game.

Bonus- that's already happened.

Extension- you can't keep him and not extend him, that would be recruiting suicide as he would be down to 1 year left.

Raise- Hart have him a raise last year after making the NIT. Hard to imagine he gets no raise after not only making the dance but winning at least 1 game.

Lmao so now we discredit Martin's tourney win because of the team he drew? Are you shi**ing me?

So let me guess, if Mercer beats Duke and we beat UMASS and Mercer to make the sweet 16, you'll discredit that too?

It sounded a little more grandiose in your previous post. I know he got the $50,000 for making the tourney. That's not very much money in the grand scheme of things.

I think if he gets past UMass, certainly if he were to get past Duke, he might get a substantial extension. As it stands, 2 years...is that what you are thinking?

I think the raise depends largely on how far he gets and if their are other suitors or complications...if you know what I mean.

If you thought we would call a timeout you haven't been watching this year. Agree or disagree his philosophy is to let them play. I believe the former coach had the same philosophy.

Just my two cents. If I were a coach, I'd probably take the timeout.

Gene Keady preferred to get the ball into his best players hand and let him play basketball. That's where Martin gets it from. Purdue fans would kill Keady when he wouldn't call a time out, but I think calling or letting a team play is probably a push in terms of results. Think of it this way, with MacRae holding the ball and going 1 on 1, the worse thing that could happen is O.T. Calling the T.O. and having to inbounds the ball could have caused an issue.

Last night you had the ball in the right guys hands. If you call a T.O. you can't guarantee he's going to get it back. I'm not sure you're going to get much better than MacRae going 1 on 1 and attacking from the top of the key. He just didn't hit the shot.
