BTO’s Ole Miss Postgame Report

Neither of those things are what’s being discussed. Aidoo had a good game. He has potential. The thing that I’ve commented on is whether or not to START Uros. Aidoo played 29 minutes. Uros played 12. Why does that trigger anybody? If Aidoo started and picked up 2 quick, cheap fouls he’d have played less than 20 minutes.

What if Aidoo starts, gets two early blocks, 3 rebounds and goes 2 for 2 from the field and we go up 12-2? The whole point that was made that he start was that Uros clearly isn't helping us get started fast, and may in fact be hindering us.

Arguing we shouldn't be starting Aidoo because he might play poorly, but saying we should be starting Uros who we know is playing poorly, makes no sense.

'around the rim"

Way to ignore that part. Uros is anything but a wuss and a wimp, but he was saying he plays scared around the rim

He said he’s a wuss on offense. That’s half the game. So he’s only a wuss on one end of the floor?

So he’s suggesting that he’s not a wimp when setting picks at the high post - he’s only a WIMP when he gets near the rim?

I think the value Uros adds in part is that he's tough and an enforcer type (which we saw when pretty boy OM fan stood over Santi), but I think his point was that he plays scared around the rim on offense at times. I think "wimp" and "wuss" are poor choices of words, but I certainly think Uros is passive on offense at times.

I said that refs seem to give out cheap fouls in the first few minutes. Yes. If Aidoo avoids the mistake of picking up two immediate fouls and sitting for the rest of the half then keep starting Uros.

And a bunch of dolts in the in game thread said he “sucks”. Barnes thinks otherwise.

And rather than passive on offense I would say under control. He isn’t passive when setting hard picks. He’s VERY selective with his shots. Highest FG% on the team. He also seals off defenders giving teammates clear paths to the rim better than anybody else on the roster.

every game Uros has a ball at the rim that should be dunked but he shoots a bunny instead and misses. It’s very frustrating. I wouldn’t mind seeing Aidoo start a couple of games and Uros coming in with Ziegler.

He’s only missed 16 shots all year. And refs tend to only call fouls in the paint when TN is on defense.

I’m getting flashbacks to the pumping of Drew Pember’s assists against Tennessee Tech 2 years ago.

Aidoo and Phillips get tossed around like rag dolls in the paint. Uros doesn’t. ORN runs away from the paint on offense.

Uros is the best on the team at setting high picks. It’s pretty physical when players are running into you.

You all need to be calling and writing Barnes since he apparently has no clue how to do his job correctly.

Agree about ORN. He is soft.

@bleedingTNorange Good write up but I think you could also complement Aidoo. Almost a double double with 8 points and 13 boards and 3 blocks and 2 assist. He’s growing.
When Aidoo quits trying to be a perimeter shooter he will take another step forward. Seems like he has to take a 3 pointer every game? Needs to work super hard on establishing post position and scoring from there as that’s what this team is sorely lacking IMO. His length makes a lot of good things happen and it’s nice to see him staying healthy - will be fun watching him develop!

I was complimenting him by saying he should be our starter moving forward, but yes, he could’ve gotten his own bullet point was just trying to tie the 2 thoughts into 1.

3 blocks? Now do missed assignments on defense.

CRB’s defenses don’t produce big time shot blockers. At least ones that aren’t also giving up lots of dunks and layups. And how many blocked shots just end up going out of bounds or to another offensive player? But they are pretty. Maybe not all that important for sound defensive play though.

How about doing a stat for total screens and moving screens?

TN is statistically one of the best, if not the best defensive team in the country. But let’s beyatch about the blocked shot stats.
Well Tennessee's best defensive lineups per Evan Miya’s analytics page include Aidoo, not Plavsic, but I’m sure you’ll come up with some reasoning for that.

How’s that different than if he picked up 2 quick fouls the first time he entered the game?

How many times has Uros picked up 2 fouls in first few minutes? And Plavsic fouls at a higher rate than Aidoo, so…

Also great at picking up untimely technicals that hurt the team

I no have no issues with the 3’s, doesn’t need to take 5 a game but he’s a good shooter and someone Barnes has green lighted which means he does it in practice and really works on it. Can’t force a square peg into a round hole, at this stage his offensive strengths aren’t post position and close proximity power moves, it’s 3 ball and dunks on drop offs or offensive rebounds.

Why the ongoing need to single out Uros for poor play? He’s inconsistent game to game and CRB tends to adjust his minutes accordingly. Uros is limited athletically and is a role player yet you guys want to view him as something much more and then put him down when he fails to meet those unrealistic expectations.

If you want to dog on someone, why isn’t Phillips top of the list? He’s 10X more athletic than Uros with NBA potential yet he’s done nothing for a month or more. Why has CRB kept playing him instead of bumping up Awaka’s minutes since Awaka has been producing when given the opportunity? What about ON’s ignorant multiple fouls on failed block attempts? He’s a senior and due to regular mental mistakes he can’t keep himself on the floor? Key hasn’t been contributing lately either yet for some reason Uros playing 10 minutes a game is the problem.

Barnes commented to the media recently that Aidoo doesn’t need to be shooting a 3 every game so he must not agree
