I thought the LVs showed alot of improvement at Arkansas and even some in the Auburn game. We beat all the possible first round opponents by double digits (except Miss St the last time) and none were in doubt at the end. I realize some of them are playing better, but one thing they all have in common is none could stop Rickea. None of the lesser SEC can and if one thing has improved on our side, it's her. If she can just get a decent level of scoring support I think we win this game against any of them. That said, I prefer Alabama.
I wasn't commenting on the refs at all, just saying the pattern and margin reminded of our game w SC.There are more fouls called on UGA in this game, but that is t a ref thing, it is being called fairly.
Watched most of the games some were just poor shot attempts flings at the basket. Players not working for a good shot even if it is from the perimeter. Same as our team on Thursday. If you think a layup is going to be your hardest shot to execute then take another shot like an eight to ten footer from the perimeter.Courtney Lyle just said UGA is 5-16 on layups today. Gives some context to all of our missed layups on Thursday...USC's size, length, and strength is really tough.
The problem is that women college referees are just awful. They are at high school level. To be expected since there are just so many games requiring a great number of officials. It’s probably their inexperience that gets them to call games in favor of the home team. That is if there are much of a crowd at the game. An imposing historical good head coach also intimidates them.I get home court advantage from a player and fan perspective, but I have always doubted that refs come into a game favoring the home team….maybe the crowd affects them, but I doubt they have a pre planned outlook to influence a game. That is too far for me to go, implies shadiness in the game that I do not believe is true. It is why you never see me type a post blaming the refs for any loss or outcome. Now, many folks make such claims, but do they really believe that or is it just an easy go to theme after a loss? If as some say, refs have an agenda, show me some proof or even how that theory could have legs in the real world. That would require something other than a feeling, or what happened in this game or that game. It would require proof and the belief that the game is set up by officials to be less than a fair contest, which isn’t true.
Would also mean you believe the conference or some higher authority is dictating to refs how the game will be called, also untrue. And those refs everyone loves to pick on, they are real people trying to call a game as best they can. Could a crowd influence them? Sure, that’s the proverbial home court advantage if you have a raucous crowd, same as it ever was, but not part of a pre planned notion to influence a game. For all the things I love about this site, the one thing I believe it goes overboard on after most games is the constant implication that the refs favor one team to win. Also not true.
I expect blowback now. What I don’t expect is any proof for such “theories”.
Still have to win two SEC games, but that really helps. We need Villanova to go down quickly and also Oklahoma. It will take us winning, hopefully we can pull it off. Two games at home would be amazing.Michigan about to go down to a pretty bad Wisconsin team. Good news for us, as that's one of the teams Charlie Creme mentioned that if they falter, it helps our chances at moving up to a 4 seed.
Why would you let her get a shot is really amazing. I would've doubled her if someone else makes it fine. She wouldn't be getting a shot. Indiana played it straight up and the person guarding Clark slips and Clark hits the open shot. She is POY that clinched it.
