Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I’m on record stating I would not expect CKH to land a P4 HC job next, but I would not mind being wrong, I think she is a good coach, liked her and hope the best for her. Just thought it would be highly unusual for ANY coach released from their past 2 P4-P5 types jobs to land their next gig at one of the now P4 jobs. she would upgrade the Auburn program however imo.

Guess who had the best SEC record behind Dawn and Mulkey? She wasn’t the best, but Kellie worked with what she had and didn’t do TOO bad, not Tennessee’s standard, but it wasn’t horrible.
I’ve read on here countless times that her NIL $ resources were not adequate and the reason she struggled recruiting HS players. If true, hopefully she lands some place where that isn’t an issue again. Not trying to stir any pots or rehash stuff, just hoping her next job works out where she does well. She is a classy person.

Sam and Kellie are pretty much the same thing. I’d probably lean Sam if I’m Auburn.

Agree completely. Surely she wouldn’t take any P4 job without assurances of adequate NIL to be competitive. Hard to see Auburn or Mizzu doing that though. Can’t believe she’d come back to be even more mid. I so don’t want that for her.

Exactly. It was the 'expectations' not the overall record. If she was coaching at any other SEC school, she is still there.

It's all about the money. I am not sure if this says, 'I am a team player' or 'I am going to be the star so step back girls on the team'. I know Juju came in and survived but it doesn't always work out. I think she will be a distraction for us, so I am hoping she doesn't pick us. Someone will come up with it or be close.

According to On3, Chavez is COMMANDING a financial package valued at $1.5 million. The report also adds that she is favoring the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns ahead of fellow finalists South Carolina, Texas Tech and UCLA, and will make her final decision on Tuesday, March 25.

The real USC opened its doors in 1801. That was before we had a decent map of California.

Growing up in Pickens County I can't remember anyone referring to the University of South Carolina as USC but it has become common today. It was always Carolina back then even though Pickens County borders the Old North State. When I moved to Columbia to attend the University it was still Carolina. Today in this state if you mentioned you went to Carolina no one would dare ask which one. For years our football uniforms have had Carolina written across the front. Before we separated there was only one Carolina and its capital was Charleston. What today is NC was called the back country. On this forum it might be easier to call us USC or SC and refer to the upstart University of Spoiled Children as SoCaI.

I was amused when we last played a football game at Chapel Hill and the scoreboard read SoCarolina and NoCarolina.

Well actually.

For sports, USC always has been and always will be USC. S. Carolina is S. Carolina.

But, for the institutions themselves. I guess, call it what you will. However, S. Carolina did not form as USC in 1801. It was South Carolina College. So if they want the SCC abbreviation, it's all theirs. It bounced around between "South Carolina College", "University of South Carolina", and "South Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanics" and closing down completely for a couple years in there, until finally in 1906 if finally settled on "University of South Carolina".

USC started as USC in 1880. And still is.
