Unfortunately, they are, especially Cheek. As an alumni, I am not a fan of Jimmy Cheek and found this extremely troubling:

I'll be honest. I'm a huge fan of Pearl and would love to have him back. I'm pulling for Cuonzo to get the job done though. As far as Bruce coming back? I honestly don't know if HE would take the job back.

I've heard from different sources (dont know the validity of them) that Bruce felt wronged by the administration and would choose not to return although he lives the fanbase and University. You have to trust your employers if the situation is gonna work. As long as Cheek and his regime is in place, I don't think Bruce would come back even if he was offered.

I believe you are right, especially given the lack of support of the UT Administration (Cheek, et. al.) and the UT Legal counsel's failure to properly advise Pearl and the coaches in a timely manner prior to the initial interview.

Yeah, the whole thing looked like a set up once all the details came out about the legal counsel. It would be hard to work for them again. Granted, there were issues on both sides, but I stand by the opinion he wouldn't return if offered.

Dont post over here a whole lot, more of a football nut, but it does suck having to wait until sports center covers the crappy teams to get UT highlights and hope they pulled out a win against AU! Especially when they should legitimately be a top 25 team:pardon:

That attorney should have been reported to the Board of Professional Responsibility for his state (or whatever administrative body oversees attorneys and ethics violations). Mr. Glazier's failure to disclose the photo to CBP and his staff prior to the NCAA questioning was in my opinion a violation of the Rules of Professional Responsibility.

I guess while I agree, I have heard they got around this by saying Glazier represented the best interest of the University and not the best interest of Pearl. TIFWIW. I don't really know since I'm not a lawyer.

This is the same thing I was told. It is classic corporate legal behavior.

An attorney is going to act on the wishes of their client and (IMO) the client did a piss poor job of assessing the risk of such actions. They failed to realize that had they properly disclosed the information to Pearl in advance and provided thorough, timely and professional legal guidance to the employee, chances are none of this would have occurred. We would have had to deal with the secondary violation infraction and perhaps some loss of scholarships. They elected to throw the employee to the wolves, believing that the risk was too high in telling him and that it was for the greater good.

The actions by, and the behavior of, our UT executives is not something that goes unnoticed within the coaching fraternity. Cheek, Hamilton, et. al., are (IMO) why we have had such a hard time attracting top tier coaches in our major sports and why we ended up with Kiffin, Dooley and Martin.

If Pearl is honest with the NCAA from the beginning, this becomes irrelevant, and he is still UT's coach.

This is true and I get that. My view is that had The UT execs and attorney, presented our coaches with the photo when they had it in their possession ("...six days in advance, according to the university's official response to the NCAA's Notice of Allegations."), rather than a grainy copy prior to their interrogation, perhaps Pearl would not have been surprised and would not have said he did not know.

Bottom-line (IMO) the decisions, actions and/or inactions of our Executive team and BOT has not helped our Athletic programs. But that's just me.

Seriously? Do you think Pearl is a child that has to be told what to say?

You really, really should be way more at Pearl for not having the stones to man up and tell the truth rather than the UT administration.

UT Admin has shown a downward spiral the past few years. This cover our ass and cut our losses in the Pearl campaign is just another drop in status for them in some eyes.

That's fine,although I fail to see what else they could in the situation other than fire him, but to blame them for Pearl not knowing to tell the truth is beyond ridiculous. He's a grown man.

I think the blame is in them and their attorney not providing sufficient resources in a timely manner to the person (Pearl) they were supposed to be supporting.

Pearls job was to get players and to win. When the NCAA comes to town and you know they got the goods on your guy, you need to protect him, not send him to slaughter.

Yes, it was. But not at the expense of hurting the program and cheating. And worse, asking recruits and their families to lie about the cheating.

I don't have a problem with him "cheating."

Never should have lied but that could have been prevented by UT. Pearl is still at fault but so is UT. Never should've went in there without knowing what to say.

I hate when any coach deliberately disregards the rules. Now, if he calls a recruit too much due to forgetfulness that's one thing. But when he goes "this is against the rules, I know it, and i'm going to do it anyway" is where I have the problem. Don't need guys leading influential young men to disregard authority just because it is a "stupid rule".
