‘18 QB Grad Transfer Keller Chryst (UT commit 3/1/18)

That's a fair explanation of the statistics. I will take back the cherry picking comment. I will not take back it being a ridiculous comparison in my eyes. You're comparing an 18 year old true freshman to a 21 year old junior.

I totally get the argument that Fromm had an amazing offense surrounding him, especially run game.

The same argument can be made in reverse for why he didn't have better passing stats: his WR core is nothing to write home about. Javon Wims, Terry Godwin, a freshman Mecole Hardman were the only real contributors and are easily bottom half of the SEC as a unit.

So yes, he had arguably the greatest tandem at RB in the history of the league which definitely 100% made him look like a better QB than he is, but he also had garbage WR's (outside Mecole, IMO that kid will be a monster for them), so I consider that a wash. What he was able to do with those guys was pretty amazing to watch, subjectively.

I mean, none of us will agree on this, which is cool, I enjoy arguing sports stuff, but I'm not buying the comparison.

Either way, carry on my dudes and GBO

Godwin is a playmaker and came out of high school highly rated for a reason. Wims won a lot of jump balls this past year. They were athletic outside.

You mean like in the SECCG when UGA beat Auburn 28-7?

Tee got exposed as well. The running game covered for him. No NC without Stoerner fumble.

Kerryon would’ve gutted them again had he not been hurt by Bama. And Georgia ran the ball that game as well. Guess you forgot how the game went when both teams were relatively healthy.

Sony Michel had 16 TDs....Nick Chubb had 15 TDs.....No.3 RB Swift had 600+ yards.....

Fromm didn’t have to beat teams. That running game really dominated all year for them. Not hard to throw if the defense is scared to let the backs gut them. I think a lot of QBs could’ve executed in that offense they had last year. He threw a lot of jump balls and Chaney made sure he didn’t have the ball in his hands long. He did his job i’ll say that but he’s not this special guy like that right now. He may be that QB this year coming up but he’s not a guy that can carry an offense week in and week out.

Far as you know.

Wonder why when their running game got stopped in two games they lost both.

He was a freshman and brought along well. I think others could’ve had success similar to Jalen Hurts in the Bama offense. The QB benefits greatly from being on the team. Tua elevates that offense to real championship quality. That’s what a difference maker at QB looks like TO ME.....

Tua had a small sample size. Opposing D’s had a whole season of game film on Fromm and he got them to the NC. You completely shut down Bama’s ground game and Tua doesn’t function better...looks like TO ME.

Can anybody explain what this means in laymens terms

Increase between non play action vs play action passes as in they are better on play action... and play action means any running back fake handoff (action) and roll out to pass. So, they are better in space or throwing on the move. Whenever you call a PAP (play action pass) you essentially shorten their field vision and “calm things down” for them mentally but usually it is a tougher throw... footwork wise

LAYMENS:
When running a play action pass play (fake hand-off) their completion % is this amount higher compared to when they run a regular pass play (no fake to the run).

Could be all the above, and not sure about Chryst, but my take would be that it gave Guarantano more time to find an open receiver vs poor OL blocking on normal pass plays.

It affects the D, as it will cause the back 7 to hesitate for a second, looking for the run. It usually sets up the medium-long to deep passes.

Is tied for 3rd in the nation for pass attempts down the left hash on 2nd and medium in the 3rd quarter in afternoon games on the second Saturday of the month while playing on the road.

Or everyone played against the run because of our poor protection, lack of qb experience, and John Kelly being our offense.

I think for Chryst that is quite impressive. For JG, I don't think it matters given the variables we had last season.

I would say it about the same for both. Teams weren't worried about Chryst with Love in the backfield. Teams played the run even more vs Stanford and their Heisman running back.

I really think this offense will be sneaky good. All depends on the running game, though. A formidable line and a good RB will make whoever starts good enough to pull a surprise or two this year...

I’ll leave it there...
