100% on the money ! I would love to have both the Berry's, but I would take a couple (4-star) DL or OL at this point. We already have Vic Wharton DB (4-star), D'Andre Payne DB (4-star), Todd Kelly DB (4-star) & others looking at us. But I would love to have them :good!:

Wharton will be playing offense

Lets clarify this.

Bates = Critical , must get
Berry's = would be nice to have

Dillon Bates is absolutely one of the most important recruits out there. The Berry's are not

They might not be "elite", and they might not be at positions of critical need, but they're Eric Berry's brothers. We've been promoting this "family" thing because it's true. Tennessee football is a big family. You have to get the Berry's because they're basically blood related to Tennessee. If you pass on them, that whole "family" thing loses alot of merit (which won't happen, the twins will be Vols).

exactly. it's really not a difficult concept to grasp...

dare i say some on here are "name gazing"?

Sugar is right. Berry's are IMPORTANT! But, not the most important. We need backers and DL and OL line bad. It does not lessen the desire to have them in this class. If you get the Berry's and do like CDD and sign 0 or 1 decent O line and one D line prospect, this team will be in trouble. If you don't get the twins but sign a few 3 and 4 start lineman who are great prospect instead, you would be better off with this second senario instead of the first. Therefore, Berry's not the MOST IMPORTANT or critical to this class. Sorry but just the way it is and LV is a great poster but do not agree with him this time.

we passed on Bailey Lenoir, so does that mean we no longer have the family atmosphere?

And FTR, i don't think the Berry's are the most important prospects in this class, not close really, but you still have to take them.

The Berry's basically have two choices if they want to play football with each other in college, Auburn and UT. Aubur was appealing because ot Trooper, now that he is gone the appeal to Auburn is less. I don't know why they just don't pull the trigger.

lol seriously

Sorry they aren't basing the biggest decision of their life on your timescale.

SEC caliber legacies are always important. And any SEC caliber LB or DB or defensive player period is critical. I'd say they are even with Bates. They'd be much higher ranked if they weren't used by their high school at every single position on the field.

I don't understand where people are coming from even talking about not taking both the Berry's. Just a year ago all these skeptics would be out for blood if anyone even thought about not taking both Berry's. Both kids are very good athletes and excellent players that will find a place to play at Tennessee and we will be very glad we took them. We want them and we need them to be Vols. Period

Agree with your general premise but Vic is recruited as an offensive player... WR/slot.

They both have offers from UT, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, South Carolina, Missouri and Kentucky. They haven't even hit the camp scene. I think they both end up Vols, but to say they have just 2 choices is way premature.

Okay, so I wasn't into recruiting when we got Eric. What was his * and his potential. I'm sure it was at least 4*

Anyway, I'm sure the twins aren't as gifted as Eric but do they have the potential and do they have the potential size/speed to eventually play in the SEC ? They will need grooming before they touch the field unlike Eric being a freshman, and I think we are expecting high things because of their bigger brother but they might just be projects.

Eric was a 5* and rated the #1 DB in the nation if I recall correctly.

I don't have a timetable, I could care less, but the way this class is shipping up there may not be space for them. There are much better players on UTs board at their position and just because they have the last name Berry doesn't mean their spots are saved.

Yes I can read, realistically looking at it they would go to only the two I mentioned. IMO. GA, LSU, SC non-commitable offers, UT, KY, MO, AU, CLemson, commitable offer. UT, AU have been recruiting the hardest.
