I know kids do it all the time so I’m not saying that this isn’t the case this time, but idk why folks set announcement dates a week in advance, but months before they have to sign, if they’re not 100% certain where they’re going to go
I like Pearl, too. Good recruiter, good coach, and good CEO of the program. Ultimately, he got caught, lied about it, and hurt himself, his assistant coaches and our great university. Okay, so mistakes happened, he paid dearly for them, but then he refuses to talk to first the Auburn president, and then the NCAA. If you're innocent and have nothing to hide, then talk to these people because you come out above board. If there are things that are shady, don't talk and maybe you will survive again. Very good chance there is a lot of dirt down there, and AU looks the other way. No way anyone with any scruples advocates for this guy.No. I love Pearl and you can't change my mind.
I follow it pretty closely. I'm just trying a different tone today and not trying to accuse people of cheating because we missed on a recruit when I spent most of yesterday accusing Auburn of cheating lol. It just sounded like sour grapes---but it is!
When u commented with, "No" to what Breathe posted, I interpreted it that way and most logical people would. Didn't see your other post until just now.
Yet nothing happens to him. To the detriment of coaches like Barnes who only “cheats” by helping his own coaches out of his own pocket. Pearl’s former assistants got the shaft and were left out to dry.To be honest, it was dumb that UT fans wanted him back when he was fired, and it's just sad that some want him back now.
Not only is Pearl a cheater and liar, but he's also bad at it.
Well he did get a show cause. It wouldn't be fair to say nothing happens to him, but FIIK why any UT fan wants him back, let alone think he deserves a chance.Yet nothing happens to him. To the detriment of coaches like Barnes who only “cheats” by helping his own coaches out of his own packet. Pearl’s former assistants got the shaft and were left out to dry.
I don’t argue that he is a flawed man, but I really like the guy and have great memories of what he was able to do here, how he embraced Knoxville, the university, supported Pat at the end of her career, and won. No doubt he has made mistakes. I am also not making excuses for him. The entire NCAA landscape is full of flawed coaches not operating on the up and up. Many of them are highly revered and the national media turns the other way when there are inklings of improprieties. I stick to my original statement - I like the guy and this isn’t going to change my opinion of him.I like Pearl, too. Good recruiter, good coach, and good CEO of the program. I like the guy as well, but I don't condone what he did, nor what he apparently continues to do. I have gotten rid of my suspenders.I don’t argue that he is a flawed man, but I really like the guy and have great memories of what he was able to do here, how he embraced Knoxville, the university, supported Pat at the end of her career, and won. If he’s a one and done guy, then I can’t imagine wanting to play with the group of players at Auburn vs all those 5 stars at UT. Not like you’re making a 4 year commitment. Whatever, good luck to him. I’m on record as not being a fan of the one and done type of program. Hopefully CRB can find a 3 or 4 year type of big to develop instead.I follow it pretty closely. I don't either, my friend. The liabilities are the reason with me. If you're okay with the shady culture, then he's definitely your guy.Wasn’t going to comment on this, but you have to understand why some people would want Pearl back. The man took Auburn to the final four. And he was a huge part of UT athletics. He was my childhood. I don’t look down upon someone for wanting him back.
Lighten up a little. It goes on every where. I do however think that Barnes is squeaky cleanHad to take my like back because I agree with the first sentence but not the second. Cheating is never right regardless of who is doing it. It's the height of hypocrisy and reminds me of people that follow other areas of society and change positions based on who they like as lap dogs.
Saying shady culture is kind of a smack in the face to guys like Lofton. Pearl recruited some shady guys, but with all he did for the community to call it a shady culture is wrong imo.I don't either, my friend. The liabilities are the reason with me. I said nothing about the players. They have nothing to do with it, especially Lofton. He was already a Vol. You are making things up now. If you can't see that Pearl is a shady guy with his experiences at Tennessee and then at Auburn, then so be it.Saying shady culture is kind of a smack in the face to guys like Lofton. People seen to take exception with your account because you only seem to recall the positive. I'll just never understand the support and the love people have for a guy who did his own assistants the way he did after he was fired. The same guys who unselfishly tried to cover up his lies. Cherish the memories that coincided with his tenure, fine, but to continually offer unconditional support to the guy and pine over him, hopeful of his return, is just so credulous.I don’t argue that he is a flawed man, but I really like the guy and have great memories of what he was able to do here, how he embraced Knoxville, the university, supported Pat at the end of her career, and won. He's an actor. A showman. An entertainer for his own cause. Don't pretend it was reality tv. You clearly aren't open to changing your mind, which is stubborn, but you're prerogative. Just don't be puzzled as to why some find your one-sided account more that a little fallacious.
