Ready to move on, but I think this post covers the situation about as well as I have seen.

I really enjoyed his time here, but even if it is not as entertaining with Barnes, I would prefer what we have now.

At this point, I’m just expecting an Auburn commitment and will be pleasantly surprised if we get him. Hard to believe that we probably won’t get at least one of Banchero, Smith, or Mutombo. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I think it’s a testament to how far Barnes has taken us on the recruiting trail.

I just don't think it's over with Smith. Call me what you will, but I still have a lot of hope until I hear the fat lady sing PERSONALLY.

It's hard to understand why we are struggling with front court players when we are guaranteed of having such a good backcourt. We have everything to sell. I don't get it.

Why people continue to idolize Pearl is beyond me. He will sell his current assistants and the AU program up the river to save his own hide. JMO

If some of yall really think Bruce was fired for just lying about a BBQ, you're about as delirious as Kentucky football fans thinking they can win the east every single year. Say what you want, but bruce isn't the best x's and o's guy. He surrounded himself with great assistant coaches and still somewhat does. He runs a gimmick system and caught fire a couple of years ago after he bought some talent.

He's a showman for sure, but him and Steven are both turds on a personal level and ill never respect either one of them on that level, ever. The BBQ was just the tip of the iceberg of what was going on up there. Luckily TN fired him and was able to escape anything serious. I promise you we would have had some SEVERE violations had he not been caught up in the BBQ incident. Believe what you will, but the foundation now is built on rock and not sand...

His record says otherwise. He’s been to multiple Sweet 16s, two elite 8s and the final four. He’s 13 games shy of 600 career wins.
Look at the two coaches that preceded Pearl at Auburn. They left NOTHING. Gimmick? You’ve lost your friggin mind.
Pearl’s problems are UT we’re a weak, limp wristed athletic department. The same one that killed an elite football program.

I liked Pearl as much as anyone. He was perfect for us. Charismatic, fun style of play and he had an energetic personality. However, he should not have called Aaron Craft's dad during that investigation. That still blows my mind and makes no sense. Who did Pearl think gave the picture to the NCAA investigators? Of course, Craft's dad was going to make the NCAA aware of the call, and they were going to interpret that contact as tampering. I was in Pearl's corner up until that came out. That was so stupid. He may not be as good a coach, but I know Barnes will never embarrass us like that.

I just don’t think the bbq was embarrassing, or Pearl running damage control for the sabatoge job orchestrated by Matta. Karma is a bitch. Why would you expect a committed recruit’s dad to turn over a photo like that? I’d say he was shocked. The Craft family are humongous pieces of ****. Again, if UTs AD had a lick of sense and any stones, it never would have happened. Will Wade, Coach K, Sean Miller, Self, Roy Williams are running around cheating in a way that would make Pearl blush and y’all are still going on about NOTHING. Bumps and barbecues. Last I checked all those coaches are still coaching at the same schools.

Our AD ****ing ruined UT football with mass incompetence. They rolled over like a cheap whore when the Pearl thing happened. Barnes’s ethics (which I like) doesn’t change that.

So its everybody's fault (the Craft family, UT admin, the NCAA) EXCEPT Pearl? The one who committed an infraction, lied about it, and tried to get others to lie about it? Nobody is saying everybody but him did everything right then, but you just seem to brush away any idea that Pearl was in the wrong for reasons unknown to me.
And I think plenty on the board have criticized Coach K, Self, Williams, especially Wade plenty. But none of them have coached at UT and this is a UT basketball forum so it is understandable Pearl would be discussed more

I would take Barnes 24/7,365, any day of the week. But some just have a weird hatred for Pearl that I think comes from missing the glory days we had under him. Once we make an elite eight, final four, or win a championship I’m willing to bet those opinions change.
