I say give the kid a break. He was 13 yrs old when this took place, good luck son in whatever you do.
Despite his tender years at the time of the incident, it does show a degree of ingrained callousness that may or may not continue and may or may not result in severe criminal behavior.
If I am responsible for admissions, I would have a tough time allowing this kid to wear the colors of my Alma Mater as a student, much less as a member of its most visible public manifestation.
However, if he has shown signs of remorse and significant improvement in academics as well as athletics, and had become a contributing member of his community, I would certainly take such facts into account.
I would be in jail had it happened to my daughter because I wouldve killed both boys... Am I judging and wrong yes as I am a christian and its horrible to think or say but if anyone hurts my kids then I will get a bit crazy

Do you often cheer for felons to be admitted to the university or just felons who happen to be prized recruits? That double standard is appalling.
My memory may be a bit sketchy but I would say there is a big difference between Jason Respert (simple battery) and the current situation --aggravated rape!
But no double standard here, I wasn't for Respert either. Nevertheless, I would call him a success story.
He had a $50,000 bond and we still let him play here. It's funny that most people have no clue about recruits in the past because the media coverage wasn't NEAR in depth then as it is now.Respert was arrested for attempted sexual battery and residential burglary Saturday afternoon in Gainesville, Fla., during his official visit to the University of Florida.

i just think it's funny how people say that their are distinctions in wrong doings just because of how it makes them feel. Hell, morley helped rob someone and yet you don't see the outcry you see here because this crime is one that brings people feelings to the surface. i was always raised that wrong is wrong, no matter how you slice it.
