The issue I have with this is that, if we give Hood a 2nd chance, why did we not give Jamar Hornsby a 2nd chance? I understand that the situations were different and Hood's incident was alot longer ago, but a 2nd chance is a 2nd chance.

I understand what you mean and Im all about 2nd chances, but you cant compare the two. Hornsby's was a callous thievery and Hood's was rape, very very different.

Yeah, Hood's crime will affect the girl for the rest of her life. Hornsby's will affect....I guess some girl's family in some way I suppose.

What a disgrace.

I believe in second chances, and this kids second chance is that he is walking the streets as a free man. This will smear the name of our school. I really hope we dont sign this criminal

is he from Kingsport? i thought he was from Knoxville,i went to school with a Alan Hood in Kpt

I'm pretty sure he is originally from Kingsport, but moved to Knoxville after what happened. It may have been part of the courts original decision for him live elsewhere. I think it talks about it the court documents that have been referenced here.

He is from Kingsport. My nephews went to school with him and never thought of him commiting an act like he was involved in. My brother knows his dad Allan pretty well. He has always liked his dad. His dad is a big fellow that has won numerous tough man contests. He ran for sheriff few years back. Hopefully this kid can get on the right track. I think he has all kinds of potential but I hope he understands what a horrifuc crime he was involved in. He was just 13 though. God can help him through this.

i found out that was his dad from school ,the song headknocker comes to mind,but there were a lot of headknockers from that part of Kpt

He had a meeting with Mike Hamilton. There are some people on Daniel's behalf offering testimony or letters on his behalf. Hamilton won't have the final say on this and neither will Kiffin. The University president and admissions people would make the ultimate decision.

Word also is that Auburn is pursuing him as they are woefully thin on the line of scrimmage.

Word is its the president's decision. If he says ok then CLK will take him.

This is all on a 'case-by-case' basis.

We don't have all the information we need, but we know CLK would not do this if he wasn't confident in his ability to manage it.

FWIW, I talked to the family. Brent's right. He's trying to become a Volunteer and will have his representatives present his case to the President. Auburn is indeed after him hot and heavy, but they say unless UT falls through, its too late.

Talked to a very reliable member of the coaching staff during JR Day and he will be a Vol if all the other procedures pan out. With this kid and his past its all a process. There is a little concern about a possible PR hit too so they're trying to make this happen as smooth as possible. I don't post unless it's as solid as a brick of Gold so trust me on this one. Also staff member said everybody else wants Hood to walk on and earn the scholarship, but we're trying to work some things out to get him in and a scholarship.

I see the walk on scenerio being a much better option when it comes to PR. if a scholly was offered it could get bad exposure though

I am fine with it if he goes through the process, but I think he should have to walk on and earn a scholarship.
