To be fair, the media isn't that big on Hood, someone on Volnation dug up his court filing a long time ago I doubt the average UT fan knows anything about his background.
I live in Kingsport and at the time this happened there was some 'word of mouth' knowledge of this just because it's a small town. I have lived here all my life and heard very little about it. The real reason the media got hold of it was because he appealed the original decision. Once that happened, it became a matter of public record. If he wouldn't have appealed,
you could say, it may have never gotten out the way it has.
I hear a lot of talk on here about how he should have gotten jail time. Last time I checked, they don't send 13 year old kids to jail. He was a party to a terrible act, but at present, the law (right or wrong) doesn't hold 13 year olds to the same level of accountability as an adult. There is sound logic for this, but like it or not, that's just the way it is.
Let me make this clear. I am not defending this kid, merely making an observation. I have had experiences where I really wanted to hurt someone for what I thought were wrongs done to a member of my family. In the end, I realized that if I would have handled it that way, I would have been NO help to the rest of my family from a jail cell. Thank God for pounding that it to my head.
Best to let God deal with them.
