'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

Hold on, your brush paints too broadly. My distinctions are legal distinctions. Feelings have nothing to do with it.

But my personal feelings are that no-one should be allowed to play collegiate sports if that player has a criminal background.

Thanks for proving the point I was making.

He had a $50,000 bond and we still let him play here. It's funny that most people have no clue about recruits in the past because the media coverage wasn't NEAR in depth then as it is now.

To be fair, the media isn't that big on Hood, someone on Volnation dug up his court filing a long time ago I doubt the average UT fan knows anything about his background.

He's a local kid, anyone who follows local sports or who has read the paper in the past few years knows who Daniel is.

Without reading 29 pages, I assume he isn't going to sign... I noticed it sadi Vandy offered him a free ride.. Hard to believe they would do that with his record that I saw.. I could understand Satan at Bama as he doesn't care about right or wrong..

well i go to his rival school so as far as im concerned. he did it and would do it again

If Daniel Hood wants to play for us so bad then he can walk on. I dont want a kid getting a free ride to school with his kind of past

simply put

Gus McCrae: You know how it works Daniel , you ride with an outlaw, you die with an outlaw. I'm sorry you crossed the line

enough of Daniel Hood ,i think he should have pulled jail time

maybe the greatest western of all time (even if it was a mini-series)

I live in Kingsport and at the time this happened there was some 'word of mouth' knowledge of this just because it's a small town. I have lived here all my life and heard very little about it. The real reason the media got hold of it was because he appealed the original decision. Once that happened, it became a matter of public record. If he wouldn't have appealed, you could say, it may have never gotten out the way it has.

I hear a lot of talk on here about how he should have gotten jail time. Last time I checked, they don't send 13 year old kids to jail. He was a party to a terrible act, but at present, the law (right or wrong) doesn't hold 13 year olds to the same level of accountability as an adult. There is sound logic for this, but like it or not, that's just the way it is.

Let me make this clear. I am not defending this kid, merely making an observation. I have had experiences where I really wanted to hurt someone for what I thought were wrongs done to a member of my family. In the end, I realized that if I would have handled it that way, I would have been NO help to the rest of my family from a jail cell. Thank God for pounding that it to my head.

Best to let God deal with them.

Any more info on the Daniel Hood signing with UT after all rumors, or is it just that, rumors? Looks to me like if UT was going to give him a chance, it would have happened already.

I also think this is bogus...We give Ramone Johnson the boot and offer this guy? Were not that desperate for depth at OT. Everything Ive seen from Kiffin so far goes against even thinking about Hood.

I live in Kingsport and this was talked about very little after the incident. I know a lady that was one of Daniel's teachers in middle school. She said he was a very bright kid. He was always courteous to others. She was shocked when this came out. I believe what he participated in was very cruel but I do believe he was a lured into the occasion by the older accomplice. We all have skeletons we don't want out. I hope this kid gets the chance to redeem his self. May God be with him.
